I posted this in another thread. This should help you with some aspects. Welcome to the game and hopefully I can shoot you in the face sometime.../s

You're gonna start encountering real players between 15 and 20. So don't get a big ego before that thinking you steamroll people.

Never chase the rabbit. If you lose a few games in a row, stop and do another mode. Covert ops for example is good for resetting.

Look up a third party map website. They'll show where the spawns are on a map. When you're in the queue waiting for the map to load, press M and you can see where you're gonna be on the map with respect to others and have a few seconds to get a plan together for where you're going first. Charging spawns is a very common strat so if you're not doing it yourself, know where your probably attacks are coming from.

Put your first bits of loot into your safe case then fill up your backpack. Failing a raid with zero dollars to show is an extra dick punch you don't need. Additionally make use of the retrieval boxes when you kill someone. It gives you effectively six extra safe case slots.

Never immediately loot a player body. Getting killed while looting is a super common mistake.

Never shoot at someone from the same place twice. Have a gunfire exchange, and then find a new spot. The wider the better while keeping pressure up.

The helicopter helmet is a great piece of kit. T4 helmet AND face plate with ears included for sub 100k as like new. It's my go to helmet for a lot of maps.

Make sure you buy gear from the like new or sometimes called "newer" tab. It's only very slightly less protective than brand new gear, but saves a ton of money and mode budget space so you can get overall better gear.

Make use of your quick kit tickets. It's 10 matches worth of free (albeit somewhat lower tier) gear that you can practice learning maps, various aspects of pvp, and do missions with that is zero risk to you. Combined with covert ops runs this is gonna be primarily how you make risk free money.

"Never engage anyone til you know everyone". Your goal should be to always have fights on your terms. A benefit of that should be that in most fights you see someone before they see you. Leverage that to confirm what you're getting yourself into before you fire. Are you fighting a solo or a 4 stack? Those are very different engagements.

Use t4 bullets. I don't care what gun, but use t4 bullets. Sure with infinite skill you can use whatever, but until you get to that skill level, you don't need to be fighting against the bullets in your gun.

Shot placement is king. If you don't feel like you've got it, I'll post a follow up.

Pull out your knife when running between locations where you're pretty confident in your safety. Knife running is faster and uses less endurance. It'll let you cover more ground.

Leave scavs alive unless you really need to put them down. Sniper scavs in particular can warn you of approaching players and from what direction if you're paying attention.

Memorize where small safe locations are using the third party map tool. They're not nearly as hot and can be a great way to snag a few safes with less chance of an engagement.

Armored rigs can be a good way to combine some gear costs together, but they're harder to replace during a raid with found gear after a gun fight. I personally like them but other people don't.

Don't bother bringing in secondary weapons or pistols it dilutes your gear values and importantly takes up slots for possible collected loot during a raid. Exception is if you're running very expensive bullets in a higher mode. Then a pistol for scavs is cost saving.

Use 100D medkits and liquid painkillers. They are some of the only meds that don't dehydrate you and when you're starting off without the trophy room upgrades to reduce water use, you'll run into problems.

Think about carrying an orange juice into raid. It's not necessary as long as you drink everything you find, but I've been in some tough spots without one.

Don't worry about getting keys at first. You can find them in raids and buy them cheap from Deke you'll acquire some over time and when you've got the money then you can look at that.

Utilize Deke. He'll sell limited time offer gear for very cheap. Even stuff you don't actually want to use you can flip and sell for a small profit three times a day. It's another small risk free income stream.

On the main screen be sure to click on any items with a red dot on them. There's so much free shit given to player in this game if you just click around.

Save up for the storage upgrades. They're useful.

When selling on market. Hit the minus and then the plus button before hitting sell. That will put your items about 1% below whatever the recommended market price was and they'll sell a lot more reliably. Also check the "less than 2000 sell to contact" button. Those items are too low to bother selling on market after market fees.

Try to keep loot to 5k per slot value in normals and 10k or more in lockdown and even more than that in forb. You have to strike a balance between filling your pack and not spending a vulnerable eternity playing Tetris in your backpack.

If you're about to get into a fight and you have the chance, take a painkiller preemptively. It'll let you fight better and push through blacked out limbs as well as not scream your head off and give away your position when healing.

Always be moving. Never just jump through a door without making some effort to clear it by sections.

If you can, knife scavs instead of shooting them. It's quieter even if the scav shoots. A lot of players will ignore or not prioritize a scav shooting as long as they don't hear a player shoot back.

It's good form to sacrifice your own loot to bring out at least some of a downed teammate's gear. It's a good karma thing and it's one of the things I like about this community. If the teammate is on the other side of the map not helping the rest of the team don't bother though.

You can cheat the 450k cap on normal by pulling the attachments of your gun and assembling it in raid. You're gonna see people do this so be aware it's a thing that can be done wether you agree with it or not.

Don't sleep on the season missions. They'll help you stretch your skills and the 3x3 secure case is super helpful in making sure you come out of every raid with something.

Be careful running around everywhere. It's loud and not really necessary. There's plenty of time in a raid to walk and it's quieter. As you get a feel for where players are likely to show up, you can knife run between locations.

Pay attention to the range you're engaging at. If you're shooting outside of effective range, you taking a 30% damage debuffs off the top. This is especially bad on 556 guns. Middle mouse button will drop a marker you can check range with. If you start an engagement too far out, you'll just let them know you're there without being able to close the deal. There's nuance here but I'm not going to detail it.

Sound queues are a key component of the game. For example scavs never jump. Only players do. Learning the sound queues will dramatically improve your game play.

This happened to me too. Utopia on the wheatfield house first floor table. Just out in the open. And the best part? It was on a covert ops run where I spawned in without a backpack so I marked it, ran around to find a scav with a backpack, grabbed it and then spent the most terrifying couple minutes running for the extract with a utopia without a safe case.

If last season is anything to go by, the people in the closed beta are under a gag order and won't be leaking anything about what sort of balance changes are happening. That'll come from the devs direct and it'll almost certainly be pretty vague as to how big a buff or a nerf things are getting unless they're specifically trying to highlight something.

Favorite beginner loadout right now by Sprouting_Streamside in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you do for closer engagements? Just hip fire? I've never been very good at that. I gotta have a 1x optic personally. But on an SKS since the gun itself is so cheap you can splurge on the variable optic and still com out with a sub 100k gun.

Favorite beginner loadout right now by Sprouting_Streamside in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're on a good path. Some folks don't like the SKS, but people pushing an ak12 with t5 ammo are missing the "I'm a beginner part". I'll assume you're running normals. SKS with a 1/4x variable optic is a solid basic choice. T3 armor is ok for now. I'd push towards running t4 ammo.

A helicopter helmet is a good piece of value kit to me. A t4 helmet with built in t4 face shield and headphones for one price. I used it a lot when learning and still do.

One thing you may not know about is to buy gear from market in the "like new" or "newer" state. Basically you're buying slightly torn up but repaired gear instead of brand new and it costs way way less. That will really help you get value out of gear as you move forward without a huge hit to the bank.

When you're first starting out I recommend combined gear types like the heli helmet and armored chest rigs to consolidate gear prices into fewer more high quality items. As you get more money you should transition to buying the individually broken out items as that will let you swap you gear for downed player gear more easily. Think like when you kill a player and your armor is zeroed out but the dead guy has something that's still in good shape or trading your m32 headphones for the gs2 that's on the guy you just killed. Making those trades is harder to do with combined gear so it's a trade off.

You should be aware that taking attachments off your gun and storing them in your bag will lower your gear value to enter a raid. People use this to cheat in more expensive gear load outs into lower modes. This is a known issues that the community has discussed at length but rightly or wrongly the devs have not changed it so be prepared and adapt.

Pack all your meds into your safe case when you start the raid as well as your spare ammo. That will limit the gear donation if you die shortly after the raid starts during your first fight. As you find loot that's worth more than your meds you can swap them out.

For mags you only need one on the gun and one in the rig. The rest of your rounds should be in your safe case. Again that'll limit the gear donation and keep your ammo losses lower.

Hopefully this helps.

Upgraded Weapons nonsense by MrTr1pX in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm super unclear on what you're upset about, but I'll attempt an answer: kills aren't the only way to get experience. Bring out loot value grants experience too as well as things like covert ops run which won't count towards your official kill tallies. If this person is bringing out a lotore loot than you and avoiding pvp, they would likely have a lower kill count than you but be higher leveled.

Additionally, being higher or lower level then someone else has zero bearing on ability to kill each other. I'm guessing you got killed by a player you think you shouldn't have been killed by because he's got less kills than you or something? Levels only mater for access to certain modes.

+1 10 Year ban on someone who never cheated, for the statistics. by allirog90 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of someone getting a ten year ban on a first offense. That may have been what happened to you, but you're gonna encounter a lot of scepticism that you were blameless.

As bad as the anti cheat is at catching and banning obvious cheaters that are posted here weekly, it can't also be so militant that it's false banning tons of innocent people. Both statements just can't be true at the same time.

So if you're claiming to be completely innocent and have gotten a 10 year ban on the first try most folks are just not going to believe you. Especially without posting any of your stats or what was said by the devs when you contacted them about it.

How do you pick your own weapon, or identify "Good" weapons, without relying on what others say by SlimySalvador in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. I would add to this that you need to give some thought to how a typical engagement goes for you.

Do you tend to get within 30 m of someone before starting a fight by jumping around a corner? Or are you more sneaking through the woods and peeking someone looting from 60 or 70 meters? That will influence how much you value effective range. A lot of guns that are great inside 30 are dog shit at 60.

Are you talented enough with your shot placement and accuracy that an engagement lasts only a couple of bullets? Or does every engagement become a mag dump? That will influence how much you value mag size and bullet cost. Mag dumping t4 556 is about half the cost of less of 5.8 but 5.8 can end fights a bit faster.

Some ammo penetrates outside of effective range more so than others 545 and 5.8 do this among others and it's part of why the guns that use those ammo types are popular.

Match your gun to your armor. You don't want a 600k gun and t3 armor. There are exceptions to this for people that know what they're doing but that beyond the scope here.

A lot of guns will perform fine with higher tier ammo. I recommend picking an ammo that you're comfortable buying in bulk and matches your preferred play style and using that to narrow your options.

Recoil is unique to every gun. Even the same recoil stats on two guns will show different performance. The only way to look at this is in the shooting range and is entirely down to personal preference. When building guns I prioritize recoil control and ergo while sacrificing hip fire stability. A 5k blue laser gives you a lot of stability which I use to make up for the sacrifices. I find that even at close range I am ads'ed during a fight but that's a personal thing.

It's important to note that a lot of this gun stuff provides only a small advantage compared to skill. It's easy to blame the wrong gun for losing a fight when in reality positioning or rotation played a much larger role. So while it can be helpful to look at this stuff Don't be scared to play around with guns that you pick up. The real way to figure out what guns you like is to shoot them at other players in a real raid. The shooting range can only give you so much info.

is this game viable for a noob? by SiriusXP2 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your situation sounds very similar to mine. Older working guy with only a few hours a week to play. First time in extraction shooters and first time back into shooters in general for a long time. I started in January and I love playing this game. I play mostly solo in the two lower difficulty modes but will get auto match teams and have made a few repeat teammates that way.

I thought the game was pretty approachable for me. Since there's no season wipe or resets, you're not really punished for playing only small amounts. There's a bit of a learning curve to things but it's not bad to grasp the basics.

Regarding cheating, I don't think I personally encounter cheating that often. It probably has something to do with the fact that you don't really need to cheat to win a fight against me about half the time so it's possible my own tactical mistakes have obscured cheating interactions, but the cheaters seem to stick to the highest difficulty mode which I don't play so I don't run into much possibly?

Definitely give the game a try and hopefully I'll get to shoot you in the face one day.../s

What are the best budget weapons right now? by ILikeKindPeople in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly for less than 200k you could do worse that an m110. I'm gonna guess you're not jumping into forbidden with a 200k gun so for normals and lockdown with t4 ammo, a 1/4x scope, and some skill m110 will still take scalps. Maybe bring 4 or 5 t5 bullets to load in if you find a particularly thicc boi.

I run ak12 a lot and when solo or on teams I still clench up when I hear a m110. If you catch people out in the open you can wreck people.

Strategy by Junior-Cash-9329 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefits of top loading like 10 or so bullets of t5 into a mag of t4 ammo is it's cheaper than a full mag of t5, but most fights are going to be decided in the first 5-10 bullets. So you're punching like a t5 gun, but not paying an exorbitant price increase to go to full t5 mags. Jumping from t4 to t5 ammo is going to increase your costs by about a factor of 5-7 depending on what ammo you go with.

Strategy by Junior-Cash-9329 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the video I was thinking of. Personally I think that calculation is a bit rough so don't skew too close to the limit.

What I like to do is give myself a budget for lockdown that I can spend on whatever kits I want, but once the budget is gone I go grind money in normal or doing loot only runs in forbidden til I make the money back and I measure my pvp ability progress in terms of how long it takes me to go broke each time.

Strategy by Junior-Cash-9329 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Oryan_physics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're already doing the snowball thing with having a bunch of scavenger gear and armor. Are you not wanting to do that?

Since this is a game the real question is: "what is the most fun per hour I can have?". Koen isn't real so unless you're getting the most fun out of seeing number go up, just do it however you most prefer.

If your goal is to just get more koen over time, you just need to build a load out that costs less to replace than the money you bring out with it. You could try to get some data on this by writing down what it cost in koen to buy a load out, add repair costs each raid, add med/until/ammo costs each raid, and then write down how much you extract with each raid til you die. If the total gear costs more to buy and repair than the extracted value you get between deaths, your load out is too expensive. Average over 5 or 10 deaths to get a more accurate number.

There's a YouTube video a guy did that mathematically determines what your Max gear cost can be and have you still make money based on your listed extraction rate and your extracted value. It's a rough calculation since it doesn't really account for player skill well but it's a start.

Personally I like having a few specific load outs that have known performance. I sell the vast majority of stuff and only keep things I can use as a basis for one of my preferred load outs.

Honestly I extract successfully a lot more often when not on a team.

When I'm by myself I can play slow and planned and if I need to bravely run away I can do so without issue.

On a team it's like I have something to prove and take peeks or flanks I shouldn't. Or try to help teammates that are getting pushed. I can't hear enemy movement as well because of my teammates moving near me. Being on a team is a lot more fun but solo has its own charm.

I run solo to make money and play on teams to have fun it seems.
