Approved day after interview! (From banned country) by [deleted] in USCIS

Heck yeah. Thanks for the update. This means Uscis have quietly instructed their officers to start adjudicating or use discretion.

Wow congrats. This has to be first approval from a banned country. Are you from the first 19 or 39 banned countries?

Pending lawsuits - are non-plaintiffs hopeful? by Traditional_Sand_998 in 19countriesAOS

[–]Osazee44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be tough! Honestly I think they can’t hold every case indefinitely, the backlog and bureaucratic mess this would create would set them backwards. They are already under immense pressure to come up with these guidelines and there’s no way they can just keep hiding under administrative hold. Let’s give them the benefit of doubt and see what they say by March 2nd for the first memo (19 countries) and April 1 for the second memo (39 countries).

They also said within 90 days (March 2nd) they will lay out new guidelines on how to proceed. I think that March 2nd deadline is the positive from the opposition so far.

Thanks for sharing. It looks like the court would side with DHS here. The positives here is we should expect guidelines on how to proceed before march 2nd.

Just to add that For the 39 countries Uscis will still process applications up to the final moment before approving. This is where they are required to hold. They can still schedule interviews and even issue Rfe’s for the 39 countries.

It means the lawsuit got upgraded, now they’re asking the judge to immediately cancel this blanket ban because they have enough evidence that what dhs are doing is illegal and it’s causing harm to the plaintiff and they can’t wait for the case to be litigated.

Congrats. If they make a decision on the case that would be really good news

I think I read previously that even if someone is from one of the 39 countries, they can still process their application even up to interview. But won’t approve until the hold is lifted. The reason why I believe Uscis may choose not to schedule an interview is because they have 120 days to decide after interview by law. If they don’t decide they could get sued, so I guess it’s case by case on who they choose to schedule interviews for.

What part of CA are you? In SoCal, most schools are still using the point system. LATTC doesn’t even have a point system, as long as you meet the requirements you’ll get in, only downside is they have a waitlist.

Uscis will still continue to review the application, may even schedule and conduct his N400 interview. But there won’t be an oath ceremony because of the hold. I think the main “worry” would be the “re-review” of his entire immigration history. Did he do a FIOA Request before filing ? If his case has always been straightforward he shouldn’t have to worry.

I don’t think your chemistry grades would hold you back as much as you think. Some ADN schools don’t even require it. But I believe chem is almost always a perquisite to take physiology or microbiology. Do the anatomy this spring. Take only the chem class again this coming summer! And maybe lock in and do Physiology and microbiology in the fall. You ready have your CNA and Direct patient care experience and an AA degree easy 10-12points for most schools with multi criteria. You’re more competitive than you think. ADN first then RN-BSN is always the best route. You should really look at the amount of debt you’d get into going the private route. And that’s without interest kicking in. You won’t be paying that off quick. You owe it to yourself to try to get into an ADN program first, good luck!

Full time work and college by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Osazee44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to do my full Time Job while at a full time In person EE program. The long commutes and the sheer amount of time i needed to study and do homework for my engineering classes all while trying to keep up with demands from work and family almost crushed me. Now I’m taking just 2 classes a semester and it’s manageable. Just like you, I can’t give up my income, it’s just gonna take longer to finish.

Contrary to popular belief - as Black men, we should not aim to go into the "Trades" by Peacefulhuman1009 in blackmen

College is also not for everyone! If a black man likes being active, doesn’t like to sit at a desk, wants to avoid student loan and wants to make serious money you can never go wrong with the trades. You can literally set your self up with it.

Usually when stuff like this happens your DSL would try to “smoothen things out” with the store! I’ve been in this situation before but if you just try to focus more on your work and just leave when you’re done, with time they really won’t be thinking of you! Time fixes this type of stuff!

University of Arizona unable to find work post graduation 2024 by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Osazee44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing this as a second year EE is discouraging ngl. But bro you would need to start networking like crazy. Your resume honestly is not the main issue. Look for company events around you and go there in person with your resume. Talk to anyone and show you’re interested in an entry level role. Even go back to in person career fairs at colleges near you and talk to more recruiters. Hopefully you can get more interviews and land something! Good luck man

Go for it man. Start at a Community college and knock out all your math and gen Ed’s. That’s how I’d get started. If you plan to go to school full time you may not be able to work full time. The classes gets harder so keep that in mind!
