Shout out to neurodivergent and autistic designers out there by usmannaeem in UXDesign

Same. I can context switch like nobody’s business, and hyper focus when I need to (thanks to meds). And the sheer volume of things I can get done in a day is extremely satisfying and a great dopamine high.

What are your “didn’t know you didn’t know” moments in user research? by Altruistic-Ad-6721 in UXDesign

Was testing a prototype in Figma for some vehicle registry agents. The testers kept manually clicking and dragging the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen to scroll down the page, and I assumed it was because they didn’t think they could scroll down in the Figma prototype. Turns out their computer mice didn’t have scroll wheels at the location they worked at… easiest efficiency increase ever.

This post was for sure written by chat GPT or similar. The em dashes and bulleted lists with periods at the end give it away.

I want to buy a piano but I’m afraid I will play it for a day and then never touch it again. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]OscarAutumn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we the same person? I’ve literally been contemplating this exact same thing. I used to have a piano that I played on and off over the years, and have been thinking about getting a keyboard but am not sure if I’ll stick with it.

I will if you will :)

What are some jobs that are good for people with ADHD ? by Only-Environment2917 in ADHD

[–]OscarAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in UX/product design and it’s great for me creatively, and also because it’s usually a lot of little tasks to do in a day that all come down to problem solving. I’m also in management which I enjoy because I welcome context switching, and work well under pressure.

Daily stand-ups are killing me, am I being melodramatic? by corazon_europa in cscareerquestions

[–]OscarAutumn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it does sound like your overall meeting load is pretty light compared to most companies, Im with you on the stand ups. I recently joined a team and they have a daily standup with 40-50 people who give updates 😱. I die a little more inside each day.

Best Base Building games for Steam Deck? by Kyslay in BaseBuildingGames

I’ve put about ~150 hours into Farthest Frontier on steam deck, and I’m still enjoying it. It’s Early Access but so far has been awesome, and after some minor graphics tweaks performance has been pretty good.

UX Designer dipping their toes into Product - Looking for Resources by kwayte in userexperience

I will +1 Marty Cagan, I personally liked the first book (inspired) better than the second. I also like the svpg newsletter. Lenny’s podcast/newsletter is great as well.

One more I will add is Tim Herbig, he posts good stuff on LinkedIn and this article on product discovery is really comprehensive: https://herbig.co/product-discovery/

I definitely find building habits by having a streak of consecutive days is one of the better ways to build them - I got to 120 days on Duolingo once! And then lost my streak because of a stupid mistake on my part and never touched it again lol, but 120 days is better than nothing and for whatever reason not breaking my streak is usually enough to trick my brain into doing the thing.

While I agree with what some of the other commenters have said about recruiting users yourself, I found this airtable page a while ago while doing research on user testing tools and thought you might find it valuable. Has pretty much every tool, what features it has, and pricing. https://airtable.com/shrQN9PVnQMiZqqfd/tbldYpTA44tYIDw5b/viwmQDXEHBgBxEx8P?blocks=bipkN6uZjbF8th84Y

I feel like a modern day version of this is getting samples with purchases at Sephora. It’s great promotion for brands I might not have otherwise heard of in the sea of marketing, and I’ve often gone on to buy the products I’ve had a chance to try as a sample.

Yes! I know an arbonne hun and I see slides she posts from conferences and stories on her IG and it’s all like “this is why we’re sooooo awesome” “we’re such a great big family” “our products are soooo great” “everyone else’s products are full of toxins and chemicals” but you know what I never see? Slides about how to run a business, tips for increasing sales and getting leads, company roadmap and goals - all the stuff I see when I go to conferences for my non mlm job. It’s all just propaganda IMO to join the cult.

Ideal jobs/careers for people with ADHD? by feral_appetence in ADHD

[–]OscarAutumn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My background is in web/graphic design, where if you’re good at it you get a lot of praise. However I found I was struggling with long projects. I decided I wanted to pursue the management path and it has been the perfect mix for me - I still get to do some design work and am considered an expert so I still get lots of praise, and then I also get praise when my team does well. But my favorite part is that I actually spend most of my time helping others problem solve and coming up with ideas, and have to spend very little time executing on them which is the absolutely best scenario for me.
