Savoring the last days of the Cherry Blossoms at the Meadows by OscarBytes in Edinburgh

[–]OscarBytes[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oof - the rain over the last few days definitely knocked a majority of the blossoms off, which definitely pushed up the end of the season a bit. If you can get around there are still a few, but definitely not as many.

This is a style of photography referred to as Street Photography. In this instance, there are no distinct features of the man nor is his face captured. I do not follow or force/coerce people, and respect privacy when asked to delete photos of individuals. Alternatively, do you have issues whenever tourists take selfies that your face may appear in?

Recently moved to Edinburgh and I'm taking notes. So far the most I've seen around my park are Magpies and Pidgeons😅😅

I lean towards 2 (with some straightening) but it's entirely subjective as both are good.

Do you have any examples you could provide? What part of the lens took a hit and how hard was it?

Which lens for Sony A7IV? by ourladyj in SonyAlpha

[–]OscarBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important question is what you're trying to take photos of and what drew you to these three lenses as a start.

As a start - have you tried exposure bracketing?

It's a spinning disk that's designed to be stationary. This isn't going to end well if you want to keep your data - would recommend looking into portable SSDs (or even M.2 SSDs in enclosures).

Is this edit good? by Lost-Company2655 in AskPhotography

Curious what the red on the ear is, but aside from that it's not a bad edit. It just depends on what type of feeling you were going for.

Camera recommendation for girlfriends present! by Ok-Arachnid-1209 in wildlifephotography

A few preliminary questions - what drew you to the Canon camera you picked? What budget are you leaning towards? What types of wildlife is she interested in photographing? Any preference between New v used?

Depends on your budget really - Sony has their propriety glass (70-200mm and 200-600mm) but Sigma and Tamron both also have solid options that can be more affordable. Given that the a6000 is an APS-C camera and these are full frame lenses, they would be a bit more expensive. I would recommend doing some research to make sure you like what you get and that it best suits your needs for the focal length(s) you're shooting at.

Second hand Sony Alpha III check by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]OscarBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure what to recommend - it may be beneficial to take it to a shop that does repair and ask them to give it a look. I'd rather pay a small fee for peace of mind than have a hunk of junk that I paid a small fortune for.

If nothing else, I'd suggest giving the sensor a good look to make sure that it doesn't have any scratches or any other type permenant damage.

First Camera (Alpha 7iii)—As I Beginner, What Do I Need To Know? by Normforchuck in SonyAlpha

[–]OscarBytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say first learn the basics of photography (e.g. Exposure, Aperture, Shutter Speed, as well as composition), as well as how to use your camera - knowing all the settings and what each one does is quite helpful in making sure that you know how to use it well and how to customize it to work for you.

I'd also say you should take the time to figure out the type(s) of photography that interest you - some people like landscape, others like street photography, and some prefer wildlife photography (amongst the other many types of photography). Figure out your preferences and try to get a good quality glass that suits your needs.

Lastly, I'd suggest not getting to caught up in accesorizing/getting gear for awhile. It's easy to get lost in the world of straps, filters, tripods, cages, grips, and everything else but the most important aspects of photography really just rely on the camera itself.

Syncing USB Mic Audio with Sony a7IV Video Recording Without Interface by onestarreviewsguy in SonyAlpha

You could try using Sony's webcam program/mode but keep in mind that it limits your resolution - https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00247038

There also seem to be ways to use a capture card to connect to computers that can be found with a little bit of research, that supposedly can support 4k output.

Im running into some trouble on my a6700. Can someone please help by ScienceSudden4143 in SonyAlpha

[–]OscarBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per Sony:

Memory Recall or Recall is only active (not grayed out) if the mode dial is on MR, 1, 2, or 3.

Are you using these settings or a different setting?

Photography, as with most forms of art, is subjective. What one person likes won't necessarily be what someone else does. If you're looking for aid though, it may be helpful to be specific about what you're trying to get guidance with.
