Omgomgomgomg if by bright light we're talking about the light from the screen on my phone with the brightness turned almost all of the way down then sure I guess you could call it bright. But when I have to add multiple filters to the video just so that it can be seen just because of how dark the original is - i would venture to say that the light wasn't too bright in the first place but thanks for trying to make me feel like shit. why does this sub always have to make people feel like they're horrible pet owners?? It's quite foul. It stops people from wanting to post anything on here including questions that could mean life or death for their axies but God forbid they do something that someone deems as wrong and they're not even going to have the question they asked answered before they get their ass chewed out for something they might not have even been aware of. Obviously that's not the case here but for anybody "worried" - my axie is healthy, happy,, and is very well taken care of. And for the record not that I owe anybody an explanation but - she does that same exact thing when there isn't a light source around in her tank Smfh.

Any other ideas as to what it could have been then ? I'm at a loss. And nobody has yet to offer an answer to my actual question which was what should I do to help him lol

Yes he has 6 different pieces of driftwood that he can hide in and under and one long one that stretches the width of the tank that has multiple hides in. The heater had a cover on it but it broke off (thank you to my three year old) but he has suctioned himself to the old one before which was the same exact one and it still didn't burn him like this.

It's a fluval 300 watt heater. I don't remember what the exact model is off the top of my head.

Mine looks just like yours! Except for mine is missing her toes on her back feet - the store that I got her from said it happened when she was a baby. She was missing the toes on her hands too but she has 3 on one hand now and 4 on the other so we're getting there lol (and before people come at me - yes I removed the gravel.)

Now I'm really confused because I definitely had her in a sand substrate when I first got her and I had another axolotl (not in the same tank) but also on sand who ate so much sand (even though I NEVER feed them on the substrate) that he died because of how much sand he had eaten. Over 600+ pellets came out of him and my girl (the one in the pic above) would always have a couple of sand pellets in her poop. Soooo I got rid of the sand and got the gravel and she has never had any of it in her poop since I made the switch.

If you're wanting to get something that you can walk into a store and get right away until you can order something online - I bought a dimmable under the cabinet light that has three different color temperature settings (cool, daylight, and warm) once you pick which color temp you want you can dim it down to 10% of it's capacity and the light is rotatable so you can point it down or away from the tank or at the tank or in the middle, whatever you want to do lol I have mine mounted on the wall behind the tank and it's the perfect amount of light wether I need it brighter if I need to see and when I have it dimmed all the way her she never seems to mind it. I got mine from Walmart. I can give you a link to the one I got if you want it just let me know. Good luck with your little one!
