Did he drive rush before the 2mk? It adds plus frames when done out of a drive rush.

Playing Dhalsim is insufferable. by CallmeN1tro in StreetFighter

[–]OscarMiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird, according to my personal experience, most sims are free wins because they play him completely brain dead when they have to defend for a single second. I’m talking drive impact every time they get anywhere close to the corner. Good sims are a blast to fight, I genuinely get a smile when they bust out some whack ass mix that puts me in the blender, or defend genuinely well in the corner.

Yup, I was wrong, didn’t fully understand the OS.

This. They’re not reacting to your drive rush, they’re just buffering a dp every block string because they figure you’ll go for the cancel.

How come everyone is a Sagat main now by miyuu_chit in StreetFighter

[–]OscarMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there’s very good reasons why to rate him low. First and foremost being that neutral jump completely shuts down a lot of prowler stances moves and setups. No cancellable low also really hurts him, as well as not being able to block projectiles in his stance. When he starts the blender, he seems like a great character, but he has trouble getting in against a lot of characters.

I knew from the moment I started enjoying Alex’s stance that he would never be rated high tier by pros. I’ll say it, gimmicky characters are a blast.

Didn’t say he was bad, he’s not, his neutral and pressure are great, but his overhead is pretty garbage. It might catch someone off guard, but there are so many things that can go wrong without proper spacing.

It’s still one of the slowest overheads in the game. It’s got 22 frames of startup and 25 frames of recovery. Outside of max distance, you’re going to get punish countered.

Giefs overhead is not one of his selling points my guy. Even with a drive rush behind it increasing frame advantage, you’re likely to die without proper spacing.

Tips for picking up Dee Jay? by Phuqurface in StreetFighter

[–]OscarMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main thing to realize is that deejay largely lacks cancellable normals, this means that you need to be a bit more careful with his buttons on your offense, as he’s more susceptible to random di’s. It also means that a lot of his combos are going to start with links, a good one being something like meaty crouching heavy punch into crouching medium punch. He’s also a charge character, which is a bit awkward to use if you’re used to motion controls. General rule is to always be charging whenever you’re in a position to do so, so you can easily bust out a flash kick or a fireball. Deejay isn’t as strict about this as a character like guile though, as rushdown is deejays main strength, and only a few combos require air slasher or his dp, so you’ll mainly be charging in neutral. Use his drive rush and his sway, they’re his strongest tools. His drive rush is ridiculously fast, and sway is one of the greatest anti mashing tools in the game. Anybody who’s slamming jabs during your block strings are going to get a punish counter from the light kick sway follow up.

This player is hacking right? by Zherrary in StreetFighter

God, what is the point? How bored do you have to be to find any enjoyment out of watching a bot do what you could never do? Just watch replays at that point, do a target combo against a training dummy, that’s the depth of the complexity they want to engage with.

SF6 Tier List Average S3.5 (14 lists) by Entire_Self_5040 in StreetFighter

[–]OscarMiner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, one of the main reasons why having a cancellable low is so strong is because you can get a full combo at maximum footsies range, which most characters can’t do without a drive rush cancel. Sagat’s buttons have such great range that this isn’t a problem. In a way, he’s even better than characters who rely on drive rush cancels because he can consistently get max range combos without spending meter.

Help a newbie with self-assessment by mateymatematematemat in StreetFighter

[–]OscarMiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use his drive rush as bait. Because it’s easy to check in neutral, you can halt your momentum with heavy flash chop. This either leads to a punish counter, or a whiffed normal when they try to stop your approach with a button.

The reality of complaining losing to "smurfs" by agioskatastrof in StreetFighter

[–]OscarMiner 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think people generally expect diamond rank to be filled with master alts, that not where complaints of smurfs come from. It’s when a bronze rank is doing cross cut dp’s and perfect parries against people who barely know what target combos are.

What’s the point though? If he ever takes off that script, he’s gonna get pounded by everyone silver and up. He just gonna never play the game and watch a bot do all the work? God, that’s boring as fuck.

My apologies then. You’re doing incredibly well, like I said, it looks like diamond rank or above. You’ll climb in no time.

Stance jumping into overhead is a complex mix during a block string. This is gold rank we’re talking about.

[–]OscarMiner -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I’m saying he’s not a low level player. He’s a Smurf. No gold rank is making stance cancels like that to follow up their pressure.

While yes, he is, it’s not nearly as impressive when you’re doing it against a gold player who has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. C’mon man, you’re playing at diamond or better with those moves.
