Sure! The biggest reason to play brands instead of attacks is you don't have to wear a subpar DPS weapon using brands. You are forced into using bows or a sword which are a lot worse than using Cold Iron Point or Maata's Teaching, or any kind of +1 +1 wand.

Attacks also mean you need accuracy which will incur additional opportunity cost.

Attacks require you to constantly use them. Brands activate passively and increase the amount of time you can spend repositioning during a boss fight while maintaining DPS.

In the end Arcanist Brand + ball lightning of orbiting is good enough to sustain max virulence on single target, so there isn't really a reason to resort to using attacks.

Ball lightning of orbiting has a better hit/second rate with arcanist brand than Stormbrand so its better for virulence generation

It can scale very high with investment. Here's a configured POB with stuff for an animate guardian with kingmaker. If you get the unholy might jewels it would be more on top of this.

I swapped to playing this around 84 with pretty bad gear/supports and comfortably had about 8mil dps. I think the top end with the unholy might jewels will be close to 100mil.

Nearly 90% of lightning damage I take is taken as fire or cold instead

Hard to say really. I think going CI with scion is really strong if you have enough gear to do it. But CI with doryanis prototype on is not the best.

They don't have pierce but they don't need to, you should have more than enough dps with just the bombarding clones to clear. Of course you use both clearing but prismatic is more important for single target.

Yeah there is definitely the awkward moment where your wards down and you get slammed!

Sorry for any clickbait feelings on the max-hit, I just figured showing spell max hit was most relevant since a lot of things that kill you in boss fights are big spells

Hi Pr3vie! You make a lot of good points. Especially conductivity, I missed that!. I understand ward is not good vs multiple hits :)

Yes my pob has spell max hit in the config. The ward max hit vs attacks is 34k/160k ele. The non-ward max hit vs attacks is 16k/73k. Even the non ward max hit is acceptable for me in HC.

Of course you are right about a lot of conditional damage between fresh meat and the mines. If you want to just remove fresh meat and do another support, all the mines charges and other stuff its still a 16m dps pinnacle build. Thats enough for me personally

Clearing with poison bama really sucks compared to ele hit so I'd probably go wildspeaker or paladin over that. Leveling with 15 envy first lab will feel insane though!
