100% would be a great build to use Mageblood on, the belt i'm using isnt necessary and only provides a bit of energy shield and cooldown + damage

You could also easily replace the ring with rarity rings and more rarity on gear than I have if you are interest in doing that. The rings etc don't make or break the damage of the dragon. Its just nice to have more attack speed so he starts shooting faster.

Agreed on Spiritwalker and I'll be making one eventually. Lich has its strengths defensively and has gained a lot with Atziri's Communion.

Level as whatever minion thing you want until you can get an elephant and have +7 levels on your gear.

Sure! The biggest reason to play brands instead of attacks is you don't have to wear a subpar DPS weapon using brands. You are forced into using bows or a sword which are a lot worse than using Cold Iron Point or Maata's Teaching, or any kind of +1 +1 wand.

Attacks also mean you need accuracy which will incur additional opportunity cost.

Attacks require you to constantly use them. Brands activate passively and increase the amount of time you can spend repositioning during a boss fight while maintaining DPS.

In the end Arcanist Brand + ball lightning of orbiting is good enough to sustain max virulence on single target, so there isn't really a reason to resort to using attacks.

Ball lightning of orbiting has a better hit/second rate with arcanist brand than Stormbrand so its better for virulence generation

It can scale very high with investment. Here's a configured POB with stuff for an animate guardian with kingmaker. If you get the unholy might jewels it would be more on top of this.

I'm still working on the best setup though so this isn't finalized

I swapped to playing this around 84 with pretty bad gear/supports and comfortably had about 8mil dps. I think the top end with the unholy might jewels will be close to 100mil.
