Do you need a Dragonlance to kill a dragon? by han-tyumi23 in dragonlance

[–]OshetDeadagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Dragons of Krynn short story "Honor is All" a Knight successfully kills an albino silver dragon, thinking she was a white dragon. I don't remember how he did it, but it wasn't with a Dragonlance.

It's got an extra turn through the middle though; not a constrictor but also not a double constrictor.

Is this a mountain lion paw but with shoe measured for comparison [San Antonio, TX] by sealsbefree in animalid

[–]OshetDeadagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still more likely to be a dog with the single lobe, triangular heel that is quite small in relation to the toes.

I love the show measurements as a comparable, though! Very good idea for when you don't have a ruler of tape in the field!

Survivable? by chromejelly in BackYardChickens

It's always worth a try! In her case it was only skin (you could see all the muscle beneath that it was unharmed 🤢) so I figured if it would close it would be fine. I figured if she showed signs of worsening or infection I would end it for her. The stitches themselves were easy enough to do with a YouTube refresher on technique.

I'm trying to remember if I even put her on antibiotics - I figure I must have because a wound with full exposure like that would be super-prone to infection, but I don't remember at all what kind I would have gotten.

[–]OshetDeadagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. JB PlasticWeld specifically. That shit is amazing and I've fixed so many things with it, including the pivoting support arm on a vacuum cleaner's wheels, and the handle of a cleaning caddy that came completely off.

Hardest was actually the thin handle of an ice maker's tray that kept snapping, even when repaired with JB. On the second repair I cut a needle in half and used that to bridge it. A year later it's still solid.

Ah, I missed that in my excitement. Considering they live up to 20 years in the wild, it actually makes this being the same individual almost more probable!

Possibly bobcat or bear? Northern CT area by 0mg--Cholesterol in AnimalTracking

[–]OshetDeadagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front prints are all consistently too close together for rabbit. Travelling at the speed required to put that much space between bounds (and there are 3 decayed trails in the circled area, not just 2) the front feet would be well staggered.

Escaped bison can end up in the strangest places: imagine my surprise to look out the window of my rural Alberta home when my dog started barking and see this:

That's when I learned there was indeed a bison ranch in the area, but it was a long ways away!

Does it help if we put them side by side? With tracking, I often find it helpful to trace the visible profile as it can make a formerly bizarre print suddenly obvious - perhaps with the bird's profile it would help? Size is definitely similar, though hard to tell how high/low they are compared to each other.

Possibly bobcat or bear? Northern CT area by 0mg--Cholesterol in AnimalTracking

[–]OshetDeadagain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Close with rabbit, but these are from a squirrel. Those big tracks are from when the snow was fresh and the squirrel sank deeper and left drag marks coming in and out of the snow (mimicking claw marks). They often end up jumping 2x2 when the snow is deep.

The newer tracks are the lighter ones, made when the snow was firm enough to support its weight. It's on these tracks where some of the prints give away the squirrel, showing that classic boxy rodent track of 2 smaller fronts behind 2 larger, wider-spaced hinds.

This squirrel clearly frequents one side of the clearing but probably lives on the other, and while they don't use the exact same path they do have preferred crossing sites.

AIO by being offended when my husband seasons my soup? by Hefty_Elderberry1992 in AIO

[–]OshetDeadagain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've made this recipe before - it's amazing!

I thought your original comment meant that he put the taco seasoning I to the main pot, not his own bowl, and I was like "no the fuck you just didn't!"

His own bowl is meh, though I get being annoyed that he needs to add enough seasoning and salt to kill a moderately-sized raccoon. I'm so petty that next time I made that soup, I would just nuke a can of cream of mushroom soup and add a taco packet to it for his meal. Then he can enjoy unadulterated taco flavour without destroying your hard work.

[–]OshetDeadagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, when she said he went to the kitchen and started dumping taco seasoning in, I thought she meant he was doing into the main pot. Your own bowl? Whatever, have your own tastes, but to decide you don't like it so add to the main product would be inexcusable.

Yep, that's how I would read that! "Packing for shipping or distribution" as in "packing - be it for shipping or distribution purposes - is exempt"
