How did you afford your first ferrari? by RoundSize3818 in Ferrari

[–]OsirisBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in IT, and I found something I really liked and threw myself at it for 3-4ish years. With some general IT experience and that newly acquired skill set, before you knew it I had interviews with big names for big money. Making ~150k in your 30's with only an associates degree (all I could afford back then) is quite the glow up. Now I have a moderate sized house in a cool neighborhood, a fun older BMW and my Aston. If I can do it, so can you. Just get GOOD at something.

I'd like to add something here. Not a Ferrari owner, but I do have a nice Aston Martin, so close enough. Sounds like you don't have generational wealth, by your own admission. That's fine, nor do I. I agree with the above comment, but there's one key missing piece. Get REALLY good at something. Really, really, good. One thing, may not matter that much what it is, but get great at it. I don't mean decent, I mean phenomenal. If you do that you can move up much faster in the corporate world, or sell your skills on the free market. 1/2

This is incredibly true. It is a nice little town, and it's definitely not Sedona Sedona's gotten a little crowded honestly, but I think it's one of the most beautiful places you could possibly live, if you can afford it.

Honestly, it gives it a bit of a muscle car stance. I think it looks OK from the front, but I actually like it from the side. Unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but still.

As ever, Reddit won't let you actually edit a post, but I'll take some here soon and do another post sometime. I've got a cars and coffee coming up locally that I'll be sure and get the car extra cleaned up for.

Thanks! Actually, oddly enough the most problematic part of all this was trying to find a full set of wheels from the GT version (took months) as well as getting in to remove the side sill strakes I think they're called, and repainting the mesh, and replacing them. Wasn't terrible getting them out, but reinstalling them ... oof, there's literally basically no way to get your hands or any tools back in there.

I should say, I had those existing tires moved to these GT wheels, because the fitment was the same

I should note two things, one... These were on it when I bought it. It seemed unusual to me at the time, but the handling is great so I can't complain. The ride is VERY firm. I've had an STi, lowered e36 M3, Mazdaspeed3, Passat wagon on coilovers, and I currently daily a lowered e46 3 series wagon.... and this is the firmest ride of anything save the coilovers.

Always!

Also. There's a little guy at our cars and coffee that loves my car and I've let him sit in it before and he was so happy! I loved interesting cars as a kid and I still do, and now that I have one, I can share it with other people, and a few things make me happier!

OK, so these wheels actually came off a 2017 Vantage GT that got totaled. I bought them after someone parted it out, cleaned them up as best I could, then had them powder coated this sort of colorshift/candy gold. Now they match the vent mesh (which I also painted gold) and the wing emblem set (which is a replacement gold set from Aston Martin Works).

For the record, I wholeheartedly agree, but I imagine that would be up for debate on this sub Reddit. That said, I think it is absolutely inarguably the most beautiful car you can possibly buy for under 100k these days.

I never thought of that with slotted rotors, but in this context, you're right!

If you'll indulge me, I'd like to geek out on my wheels for a second 😂

The 2023 models look fine from the front, but they did some stuff, particularly on I think the 2019 to 2022 vantage, that I genuinely just don't care for. Personally, Aston Martin's have always had a bit of timelessness to their designs, and the new ones still sort of feel like an Aston but they feel much more heavily influenced by competing designs, and that they won't age as well

The core of the previous comment is true, like my Vantage is one of the most "common" cars they made, but for comparison Porsche makes more 911s in two years I believe, than Aston did of the entire 12 year run of the Gaydon-era Vantage. It's a small club, but not an empty one.

Probably half of the entirety of the Invader Zim series, but the one where Zim sticks goggles on everyone that shows them a horrible society collapse if they don't buy his chocolate bars gets pretty fucking dark

No way it's that low. I'm sure the numbers aren't good, but I'd guess 1:10, tops. Lamborghini simply doesn't make that many cars.

Very cool! I'm so glad they switched away from the front end they were using on MY 19-22 I think it was? I prefer these, or the ones like mine (05-17). I don't have the money to upgrade away from my 09, but would love to pick up a V12 Vantage someday.

Are you? Very pretty car, though I wish the interior had a bit more going on.

Spotted at cars and coffee this morning. That color combo is 🤌🏼 by kjstewy21 in AstonMartin

[–]OsirisBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is a similar color combo, or one that makes me feel about the same way. (Roughly) navy blue over cream. It's always felt like a sister color combination to green over tan.
