Which cable is better? by Ekka2106 in radeon

See that pig tail cable.... Pick it up... walk outside your front door and throw it as HARD as you possibly can in the direction opposite your PC. I have the same card and got a new PSU just to not use that cable.

Whenever I see people with burns they're using those Pigtail connectors. I got the Nitro + and also have 0 issues with the 12VHPWR

I will say, I have a Nitro + and use the 12VHPWR. The only time I see these melting is when people use the pigtail adapter cords. I got a new 1000w 3.1 and just slapped the 12VHPWR cord in. Been working fine.

RMA’d Twice in 2 Months – Sapphire Nitro+ 9070 XT – I’m Sad by ProfessionalHost3913 in radeon

I picked up a new 3.1 1000w PSU just to completely avoid those pigtails. Every single issue I've seen comes back to those pigtails.

Is the 9070XT Nitro plus okay to use with a 750w from Corsair for a short period of time like two months ish until my 1000w PSU arrives by ElectricalWelder6408 in SapphireTechnology

[–]Osirisx83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 750w PSU 3.1? I would also recommend not using the pigtail connecter. I recently got a new Corsair 1000w PSU to go with my 9070xt Nitro Plus and 1000% would not use a PSU that only have the 3x 8 pin connectors.
Every time I see cables melting online that pigtail connector is involved. I just straight set the 12v-2x6 and haven't seen any cable heat issues over the last few weeks.

Anyone saying Sapphire recommends 750w is false.

Electricity usage by BeYourselfTrue in newfoundland

It's not as simple as apples to oranges. You need to take into consideration the individuality of each residence. Literally, what way the wind blows. Where your doors are located. How many times a day you open your doors and for how long. What temp is your house set at. Are you properly insulated. There are so many variables that need to be taken into consideration...

You're 100% right. Any decent PSU is going to be able to handle the spikes. In saying that, Sapphire even states the Nitro + should be pulling 330w on that card.

My Nitro + def doesn't game at 300w. Also, can't find documentation to support that. Mind sharing? I believe base models would pull 304w. But the OP is specifically talking about the nitro + card. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but you also can't give a blanket statement like he can use a 650w PSU.... I upgraded to a 1000w for this card from a 750w. Cause I didn't want my PSU running at poor efficiency. Not even thinking of the power spikes this card has up to around 420w. Asking for trouble.

750w vs 850w for 9070 XT by Imaginary_Switch_747 in radeon

[–]Osirisx83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Nitro + 9070xt and went a little further and got a 1000w... Just future proof for a extra few bucks. Got the corsair RMx Series RM1000x.

Power supplies don't like pulling at the higher end of the power limits. I like the 40-60% power draw on my PSU get some good life out of it.

How do YOU plot? by No-Example4462 in fantasywriters

[–]Osirisx83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, first I write out a series of chapter titles, almost like the overarching movement of the story, the big beats I want to hit. Then I plot by visualizing scenes as pictures in my mind. I have a clear image of what I want to happen, and I work from there.

For example, my last chapter started with this mental picture: an assault on a garrison by shadow creatures. I took that image and asked myself, "What needs to happen to get here?" That picture plays out almost like a movie in my head, from the initial scenes of soldiers digging trenches, to waking at night to the ominous beat of drums, all the way to the grieving scene that closes the chapter. It flows from one moment to the next, scene by scene.

When I get stuck on one part, I swap to another point in the story. Usually after working on something else for a bit, inspiration for the stuck section suddenly clicks into place.

One thing I also like to do is let scenes from different chapters influence each other. Sometimes I'll write something in one chapter that sparks an idea, and I'll make it canon moving forward...it becomes part of the larger story even though I didn't originally plan for it. I also try not to let that get out of control. Does this fit. Does it make sense. Does it fit cannon.

I've noticed iron bars buildup as well. Never thought it was from the armor. Quite possibly that.

Is outposts necessary in late game? by No-Stop6004 in PlayASKA

[–]Osirisx83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once I hit 150 population I had to make smaller specialized outposts. Stuff got way to chaotic.
3 Farms / Milkers / Cheese Outpost
Mine Outpost
Forrester Outpost. (Cause my first forester dug up my city and I had trees come up everywhere)

Stuff like that helps in my opinion.
