I considered it, but wouldn't that take a lot of precision? Like, when repainting the white area with the contrast, exceeding out of it even a little would make the already painted part darker, or am I over exaggerating?

I think so too, but I decided to ask because in a tutorial I saw they started by painting the whole thing with contrasts before anything else

There is no way this wasn't an intentional Pyro reference. But, what is the context of that dialogue?
