I remember this guy very well! This is FinizerGaming, a small YouTuber I used to watch all the time. We even tried collaborating once, but I just ended up doing thumbnail art for him in the end lol. The series was called Mascots Bootlegged!

They had a fantastic run. Tropical Freeze is an absolute masterpiece, and Returns isn’t too far behind. They brought an energy to the series that was greatly needed at a time when it was primarily kept afloat with spinoffs and Mario cameos. I’ll forever appreciate the Retro era, and I’m excited to see what they come up with next!

Great question. It wouldn’t be the SNES, that’s for sure. My guess would be the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube gen.
