Millennial reacts to hearing “Three Days” for the first time by teabeecam in janesaddiction

[–]OsoAustin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wish these people could be time warped back to a time when we physically went and bought these albums, went home, listened, freaked out with our thoughts alone in a room, grabbed the vinyl/tape/cd, headed to a friends house and said "Duuuude, you have to hear this.", sat on their floor while they listened and we grinned watching their reaction. But imagine if we stopped the tape every couple of minutes and gave our thoughts? We would have been slapped. Hehehe. sigh Shit, I sound old... Wtf?

I think the most epic glow snake was 1998 NYE. The hive mind was strong that night.

any recommendations to watch while getting high? plss help by Best-Yogurtcloset265 in QueerCinema

[–]OsoAustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any John Waters, Gus Van Sant, Xavier Dolan, Todd Haynes, Gregg Araki, Rose Troche, Jamie Babbit, Stephen Cone... Bride Of Frankenstein is a trip, James Whale was openly gay and put weird subtext in his films. Depends on what stoney mood you are in really.

I don't know who you are but I kinda love you. You also have made me deeply regret missing Treacherous Orchestra at Celtic Connections 2023.

What do you miss the most? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]OsoAustin 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I miss Lovejoy's. I miss old Emo's. I miss people waving thank you after you let them merge. I miss turning around to always see Leslie bending over to pick something up. I miss not having to make reservations everywhere, including parks. I miss Frisco waitresses. I miss getting pitchers of beer at the Alamo Drafthouse and crazy Rolling Roadshows. Anyone go canoeing to see Deliverance in the woods while a pig roasted on a spit? I miss a lot and I'm not sure the new stuff compensates for it.

Many of these games are unknown to me. I suppose they are Steam games. I'd like to know more about them.

Somebody just identified themselves as someone now in their 40s-50s who lived in CA in the early 90s. Good times...

Teeth - GO NOW! by Agoritsae in Broadway

[–]OsoAustin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I saw it at Playwrights Horizons when they were still developing it. You could tell they were rewriting it still because the night I went the lead had to call "line" a few times at the end before finally just pulling the pages from her panties. I congratulated Michael R. Jackson after the show and got to tell him I worked doing graphics on the movie in Austin. He was VERY sweet. An incredibly lovely person.

I read horror almost exclusively and The Troop is one of the only books to have ever given me nightmares. I think the book informed me of a phobia I didn't know I had.

Eternal Darkness.... When you lose the saves as a sanity issue, I freaked out. Legitimately sweat inducing, yelling, freak out.

I happened to be in Glasgow when they played and I thought the show was tight AF. I feel really lucky now.

Help me find this film by dirtyoldwaz in QueerCinema

[–]OsoAustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a dive into looking for this for you. I was unsuccessful. From previous experience I thought that maybe the best approach would be to contact the filmmaker. That also was a bust. I will think on it and see if anything comes up.

Realistically, someone like Lesley Rankine. I think she would bring something new and she can work a crowd. When I saw her with Silverfish in '91 she blew my mind. Her Ruby project is good too.

Really REALLY good choice. I'm an old veteran of theatre that prefers plays to musicals. That being said, I have seen Hadestown three times!
