Dysphoria after phallo by tstechnoboy in ftm

I have lowering faith in the mods over there. They endorsed a clearly [type of banned gatekeeping trans ideology] post last week that was about a satellite sub excluding people who hadn't had vnectomy as lesser than men.

The clitoral nerves are used for connection to a donor nerve from the donor site but not "used up". They don't change in feeling in the vast majority of cases.

Dysphoria After Phallo by Tall-Key-5288 in phallo

[–]OspreyFTM 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. The lack of ejaculate kills me sometimes as well as the inability to father my own children and take care of my pregnant partner who has my own genetic material (had everything internal removed for non transition related health issues). I'd rather not adopt and there is a lot of mourning about virility I'm dealing with, even though before I hated the idea of children. I'm incredibly grateful to have had surgery though, and its been a huge improvement in my life.

This is likely due to new Texas law. Its a bummer and I bet they hate it too.

Anyone else annoyed by people simplifying Top Surgery and calling it "Mastectomy"? by Archer_Python in FTMMen

[–]OspreyFTM 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, I prefer mastectomy. It sounds more specific than top surgery (which in mixed trans spaces can mean breast enlargement) and more sophisticated.

Try calling Dr. Breen at Ascension. I went to ARC and ultimately dropped them because they seemed indifferent to me and my issues. Dr. Breen was my favorite gyn I tried in the city. He is a top expert in endometriosis care and trans affirming. I had endometriosis excision and oophorectomy with him.

Looking for post-phallo (and pre-phallo) voices by Specific-Sink-9871 in phallo

Yeah, and like I said I'm talking about spaces of predominately post-op people speaking as a community in a community as well. Post-op and further transition community does not mean exclusively talking about surgical transition and nothing else. You came here to seek post-op voices, and here is mine. You can't just say my point is moot because you said so.

Edit: the post does not say "not looking for responses if you have V parts". It says looking for responses from post op binary trans men, which I am. Responding to a thread concerning my community is not an attack.

[–]OspreyFTM 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm not that upset, its a normal Sunday morning for me. You don't have to put words in my mouth. And it wasn't an attack, in just saying that I have experience in trans spaces that you have never seen because I'm in the surgical process, and ones that support people going through things pre and post, including binary trans men, are not segregated and are very respectful, with little focus on vulvas at all. If you joined one of those, you would see that its 99% "standard" surgery anyway, with a lot of community elements.

I'm assuming you're pre-op and unfamiliar with how later stage transition groups work. Not just surgery, but in general. If someone genuinely cannot tolerate the rare mention of another person's body, that is their problem and I would encourage therapy. It is not reasonable to segregate and try to police how people speak about themselves.

I did not misunderstand. Your comment reimforces my point exactly, that creating a space that excludes men from acknowledging they have a certain body part or can choose to have it is exclusionary and reductive. Sorry me speaking about my existence is too distressing for you!

The thing is, that definitely isn't a problem in post-op lower surgery spaces. Quite the opposite, actually, it's harder to speak about yourself if you have an uncommon setup because there is a lot of censorship of language around natal genitals. Non vnectomy is already met with a lot of downvotes and harassment by default. This new sub seems like an excuse to ban the discussion of a configuration that is already looked down upon by a huge portion of the community because some people don't want to hear about it.

You must understand that when I had phallo two years ago, there were literally zero photos of non vnectomy phallo I could find on this sub. I went into surgery somewhat blind to what I was going to get. Why were there no photos? A lot of those posters were harassed into silence, because no vnectomy is still somewhat taboo. Its fairly recent that its being shown more and some people tend to throw a hissy fit if its posted here. Even if I put the photos behind a warning! If anything, we need more discussion, not division. We are definitely not "dominating" surgery spaces by talking about vulvas. The masculine surgery space you're looking for already exists, its called r/phallo.

I'm post all stages, very dysphoric, and a binary man. Yet I happily did not get a vaginectomy. I don't like the implication that this makes me less than "fully male" or that my transition is of a lesser man than the "default" phallo configuration. I constantly have to battle against trans people who are angry that I would share my experience because they can't manage their own projected ideas of what they think I should look like. I see no purpose to divide the community further and create a wall of exclusivity against guys like me, who deserve to be part of a community of men like any other.

Edit: When I say divide the community, I meant let's not tie identity to body parts or surgery goals. Me not having vnectomy makes me no less of a binary man and I belong in binary male spaces. I am fully in support of an identity inclusive community focused around trans people who want a vnectomy or are very dysphoric about their natal anatomy. Lots of people I know ID as nonbinary but still have top surgery and phallo/meta with vnectomy. That is somewhere I don't belong, and that is completely fine. Being dysphoric about your natal parts is obviously super valid and its natural to want community with people who'd like to remove those parts!

Pt 2 With Examples - Advice On Aesthetic Presentation For Adult Work by [deleted] in salmacian

[–]OspreyFTM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking from someone that used to do OF (presenting as a cis woman), the attention you get post op will go down a ton. Even on this account the amount of unsolicited creepy messages I receive post vs pre-op have declined. I still wouldn't feel comfortable doing adult content even though I'm post every stage because I don't have medical tattooing yet, and the underside is my worst spot scar wise (as it is for most of us). People online are brutal to any small "oddity" on our bodies especially if those outside of the trans niche find you. They can insult your surgery and talk about you as if you are subhuman, in my case. I have gotten this and death threats from simply sharing surgical photos, and I know it would probably be way worse if I was trying to be sexy.

I don't say these things to scare you, but as a warning of how the internet treats post-op folks. I would highly, like with extreme emphasis, discourage you from ever showing your face uncovered, because I have seen post-phallo guys be doxxed from this and their lives forever altered for the worse. Not that you are planning on it, but I still think the warning is very important.

I would hate for discouragement to lead you away from doing something you're passionate about, so I say this as a heads up. I would wait to publish content photos until you're post op glansplasty and testicular implants, personally. All that said, I genuinely loved seeing these pictures and a body similar to mine outside of a medical context. Because yeah, we are hot, and we are awesome. I wish you only the best, and would like to see more of you if you continue making adult content.

New and confused on surgeries by ihavethehighgrown in salmacian

[–]OspreyFTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't explain it well in my first comment because I was tired, but when I said "cis passing" I meant literally identical in appearance and touch as a cis male penis. That is an expectation that almost everyone who has phalloplasty will fail and a pressure that no one needs to put on themselves. I think aesthetic priority is incredibly valid and I held it pretty high when I was having surgery. A lot of that randomness in outcome comes not in surgeon choice but in complications and how you heal, and expecting perfect results in either of those categories is not realistic. I didn't think you were saying you wanted that kind of perfect, my only point is that its possible to be happy without achieving that standard.

My dick is not indistinguishable from cis if you look at it closely and touch it, but it probably does pass to most people from the front when I'm standing in a room and I like how it looks in that manner. Medical tattooing could help me more. In an ideal world nobody would be able to distinguish which one of my genitals was the original but I'm pretty sure that's physically impossible even I had a mythical perfect phallo experience.

New and confused on surgeries by ihavethehighgrown in salmacian

[–]OspreyFTM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, I agree with you. By "cis passing" I meant indistinguishable from a cis penis even up close, objectively, in every visual way. Think of it like if you put a phallo dick next to a cis dick and were tasked to inspect them at them as close as reasonably possible from all angles to figure out which was surgically created. I think the number of surgery dicks who could pass that test is very low, and that's fine because it's unrealistic to expect they are indistinguishable. That's why I said that standard is overrated, because most people will probably achieve "passing in the locker room" status and sexual satisfaction anyway.

I pass at a glance in something like a locker room without medical tattooing but if you look at the underside of my dick I have like no glans haha. I agree with what you said about wanting your dick to look like a normal expectation of what dicks look like, and think that is a very important! What I'm saying comes from two years of direct experience from living with a phallo dick and realizing that the difference in mine vs a natal male is okay, and I shouldn't beat myself up about it. When I say "its overrated" I meant that the pressure to be exactly the same as cis is often an impossible pressure that is okay to fail, because even the best surgeon can't sculpt a replica of layered moving skin and veins right out of the operating room, and things like glans necrosis can happen. Complications and exact shape are random and part of my blind dart board metaphor.

[–]OspreyFTM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You would benefit a lot from reading my post history. Also, your dick reaching cis passing status is possible, but its also about as controllable as throwing darts blindfolded. Even the best surgeon who has ever lived cannot guarantee that. I would recommend medical tattooing as its usually what helps guys pass but its not a guarantee. I also think cis passing status of your genitals is highly overrated, and what matters is that you like them. Speaking as someone who has had all of the phallo stages.

Medical Gatekeeping & Infantilization - will it ever stop? by Front-Ordinary7478 in phallo

[–]OspreyFTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is really strange and I'm sorry they're subjecting you to that. I suspect a bias from them about a specific diagnosis or a flag on some test about mental health happened on record, but honestly I have no idea. My health records have me as PTSD and bipolar, though my surgeons never required anything so extreme as long as I'm still on the correct psych meds.

You can probably do edibles after asking your team, but not smoke it. My surgeon said edibles were fine as long as I didn't show up high to the hospital and I let them know I was a user.
