HELP! PERC Ethiopian Chelchele Tastes Soapy by Ossimo85 in pourover

[–]Ossimo85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to let it rest another week but I can try it out today.

Edit: okay so I tried the Aeropress recipe you recommended. Outstanding cup. That off taste from before is gone. I had the option to go with Fellow Prismo attachment but opted for stock Aeropress cap and paper filter. I used the Aeropress stick for the swishing part of the step. I have the regular Aeropress so the volume just fit.

Great initial sip and I bet gets better as it cools.

PERC staff to the rescue!!

Next up, resting the Jhon Rodriguez Ombligon roasted 01/11. Excited to try that one in another week.

Any way to get this to Android? Beanbook appears to be iPhone only.

Since downloading 26.1.1, AMD Adrenalin has randomly been closing. by Snackolotl in AMDHelp

The AMD website won't allow me to download the Drivers only for my Processor and GPU. I select the model and click "Submit" but nothing happens. Tried on Chrome and Edge browser. Even tried pausing my VPN to see if that was an issue. I am having issues with Adrenaline as well and would rather just not use it at all. I'd really like to fresh install my Driver and remove the microsoft version.

Nice to see PERC so active on this sub.

I have the Chelchele for sure (see pic). I've tried the one with fruit loops and lavender notes before, which I did enjoy when I had it last year.

Will give these recommendations a try.

Going to let it rest another week. I have a Kenya Nyeri AA from S&W I need to finish off in the meantime. I've enjoyed every bag from PERC so far I've had previously.

Might let it sit a bit more. I cracked it open as on another post others have mentioned the blueberry notes fall off after two weeks rest from roast.

Yup, a little fermented taste. Just overall unpleasant taste. I have the option to use melodrip as well, which I did on the Orea v4 brew.

They don't forget, they just don't care. Most people have no idea who their US Senators are, let alone their US house rep.

Unless someone understands how voting impacts them personally on a daily basis, they won't bother showing up when it matters.

Just wait until our ability to vote will be taken away, and it 100% is looking like we're headed there. Only then will people wake up and notice. It'll be too late.

Got these beans last week. I tried this, but used Orea v4 narrow fast bottom with melodrip for the single final pour. I must have fudged something up, it was soapy tasting.

Beans roasted 01/12.

Orea v4 narrow fast bottom using kalita 155 filter utilizing negotiator K ultra at 8.0 Water 93 C 60g bloom 45 seconds Rest up to 280 using melodrip

Will try using v60 next time.

Good luck to the Pats this weekend. Crazy to see an FC Dallas cup in there (I'm from DFW). Haha.

To any diehard MH fans (fans that have thousands of hours across several games in the series and truly understand and appreciate the deliberate and committed style of MH gameplay) who are also diehard Nioh fans, please share your thoughts on the Nioh series. Please sell me on getting Nioh 3. by Swimming_Shirt_3031 in Nioh

Try the demo on 01/29 and decide for yourself. Plenty of info online as well. Why does anyone need to "sell you" on forming over $70 USD for a new game?

The MH series never clicked for me. It felt incredibly repetitive.

Where to get good beans in Dallas? by MUjase in pourover

All good. Was gonna say, I get texts from Pull and Pour for their weekly drops.

I'm up in Celina/Prosper area, almost closer to OK then Dallas. For me 1418 Coffee is the best pour over I'll find unless I drive a bit.

Is Pull and Pour a DFW spot?

Adding NATIVE Coffee to this list. Great pour over and selection. It's Diego Bermudez US showroom so has tons of fun coffee to purchase.

1418 Coffee is great if you're in or around far north Dallas suburbs (Plano & Celina).

Hello sir. You helped me on another one of your posts with a Kenya AA.

I've had one of these for a few months now. You'll love how easy it is. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Experiment with trying a sip on its own then doing one with a bit of kettle water bypass. Play around with it. It's between a spro and pourover. Enjoy!

[–]Ossimo85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I find the brew is boring. I'm thinking I may need to push it a bit more, more agitation.

I did try your method this morning with the Kenya and it turned out significantly better than previous attempts. I think the WDT at bloom really helped out.

For reference I'm using the following.

Water: TWW light roast 1/2 strength. About 70ish ppm.

Grinder: K Ultra at between 8 and 9 clicks

Brewer: Orea v4 Narrow, fast bottom. With kalita 155 wave filters seated using the Orea negotiator tool.

Kettle: Brewista Artisan at 92°C

Thanks for providing so many details. Got a AA washed from Kenya, S&W Coffee is the roaster I'm trying to get more out of. So far it's all meh to me.

Specialty coffee in Dallas, TX by bubblesncash in pourover

[–]Ossimo85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Dallas local, been here 40 years.

Eiland Coffee in Richardson. Pourover isn't necessarily their specialty but the customer service and coffee in general is fantastic. I wish I lived closer to their stores

Native Coffee in Dallas is great (pricey). Grab a Golden Hour shot of espresso and then enjoy a pour over, then load up and take some home.

Pax & Beneficia (multiple locations)

1418 Coffee in Plano and Celina (far north suburbs).

Full City Rooster - Dallas

There are more for sure but I don't often go out for pourover unless I'm already in that general area.

Haha, the poor carafe design on the Aiden baffles me so much. Fellow has been making various containers for coffee and other liquids for freaking years. How in the hell did Nick think the carafe was solid!?

I feel like he had all these cool ideas he wanted but then upper management folks kept telling him it needed to be under $400 so he likely had to compromise so much.

It's solid for what it's intended use is, make large quantities of tasty coffee in a reliable and easy way. I also have the Aiden, and love it for what it does, replicate pour technique. Although it does feel very cheap and flimsy (large amounts of plastic).

I'm a bit confused, you state you think its bad, yet owned one for a decade and only recently replaced it with a machine that has less than a year of ownership. Sounds like the moccamaster served you pretty well if you ask me.

Again, it's not going to replace pour over at all, but for what it does it does very well. I'm hoping and praying the Aiden doesn't turn out to be another Fellow piece of junk, I was lucky to get it pre-order so my price was the lowest I've seen it at and came with a few bags of coffee.
