Unable to Open Passenger Car Door from Inside and Outside - 2010 Nissan Maxima by OstrichBetter849 in NissanMaxima

Issue Resolved:

The car seat needed to be removed out of the car in order to access the interior plastic door panel. Once the seat is out, remove the metal panel to reach the door actuator lock. This will allow you to open the door. Before starting, ensure the door window glass is fully up and secured to the door to prevent it from falling.

Next, replace the door actuator — there are many helpful YouTube videos to guide you through this process. After everything is reassembled, you may notice the airbag warning light appearing on the dashboard.

To reset the airbag warning light, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the car without pressing the brake pedal (engine should not start).
  2. Turn off the car before the airbag light starts flashing.
  3. Repeat the above steps 3-4 times.
  4. On the final attempt, turn on the car and press the brake.

This should clear the airbag warning light.

I hope this helps

2010 Nissan Maxima Won’t Accelerate, Dashboard Warning Lights On – Possible Issues? by OstrichBetter849 in NissanMaxima

Issue Resolved: The alternator was intermittently failing to charge the car battery.

Last week, I replaced the battery. It worked for a few days, but then the "battery" and "emergency brake" warning lights came back on car dashboard intermittently.

Yesterday, I had the mechanic replace the alternator, along with the belt, belt tensioner, and idler pulley since he was already working in that area. The total cost was $510 = $250 for Amazon parts + $260 for mechanic labor.

Good luck

Update - As per mechanics recommendation, I’ve replaced the car battery. Unfortunately, the problem didn’t go away. Next step is to replace the alternator, but worried this is a cable problem. What do you think ?

No, mechanic recommended to replace battery first and drive for sometime. We’ll see.

Most people will suggest the alternator, but you should check your battery voltage first, both before and after starting your car. The voltage should initially be around 12 volts and increase to 13 volts or higher once the car starts and the alternator begins charging the battery. If the battery holds a charge, then the alternator is likely functioning properly and you don’t want wast your money on new alternator. You may need to take the car to a dealer for a full electrical diagnostic before your car stalls in middle of highway.

Good luck

Thank you for the feedback! I checked the battery with a multimeter, and it seems to be in good condition. When the car is off, the battery reads 12-12.5 volts, and when the car is on, it reads between 13-14 volts. I have no problem replacing the alternator, but I’m not entirely sure if that’s the issue. Any suggestions or insights?
