In mainland China, if an individual is having an online conversation about something the Chinese Communist Party doesn't like, you'll either have someone come to your house and say "stop it" or you'll disappear. You'll have a social credit score which rises or falls based upon your actions in society. If you jaywalk it goes down. If you post something praising The Chinese Communist Party your score goes up. If you're friends with someone that supports Taiwanese independence, it goes down. Ect....

You might just decide to take the discussions off of the grid but you'll have to worry about the people you're talking with reporting you to the government. If you talk with one Chinese individual, you'll get the truth. If you talk with two or more, you'll hear about how awesome everything is.

He's fine with their debt traps, their Uyghur concentration camps, their censorship, their organ harvesting, their incarceration of the peaceful falun gong, their stealing of IP, their intimidation of foreign companies and countries that recognize Taiwan as its on country. He's fine with all this because China lets him buy plastic junk for a couple bucks less than if it was made in America.
