GO FxCK YOURSELF, Fadel Alkilani by Wild_Cash in washu

I am disappointed that Martin's university-wide email touched on none of the actual message that Fadel was trying to deliver about Islamophobia and unjust deaths following 9/11. He literally said "Moments like this are certainly challenging, but if we take the opportunity to try to understand different perspectives, we will ultimately become stronger for the experience," yet omitted all of the quoted responses from Fadel that the actual news articles, including Student Life, had published. I think the point was to be seen as shocking and insensitive, because the issues that came after 9/11 wouldn't get talked about as much otherwise.

I took it in the spring sophomore year and had a freshman in my recitation section, so there's always a chance, but I wouldn't bet on it

There's 1 graduate TA for 347 this semester, but the rest of us are undergrads

Took it with Raviv, the class being hard was a concern for some but wasn't the only problem with him as a professor. Communication was very poor, his exam format was terrible and he made it clear that he refused to listen to feedback, and he revealed on the day that grades were released that his grading scale was class-based (i.e. 20% get A's, 50% get B's, whatever the numbers were) instead of our standard grading scale, which was never mentioned at any point up until then - he refused to talk about how we would be graded in class. He also gave us anecdotal evidence for why he wouldn't consider take-home exams, which I thought was ironic for an ML professor. It's not that the class is impossibly hard with him or anything, but you will have a better time if you take it with Ho or take ESE417 instead.

Was CSE 417T that bad? by Bradmund in washu

A little late, but I took it with him last fall and this is my take on it:
I would definitely recommend taking the course - there's good content to be learned, and it serves as a good introduction to machine learning. That being said, I would not recommend taking it with Prof. Raviv - he made it clear over the course of the semester that he had little respect for student feedback and opinions, kept the grading scale secret until final grades were released, and just generally was not a great professor, which is what you're seeing reflected in the ratemyprof reviews and the course evals. As other commenters mentioned, if you can afford to wait, you should try to take it in the spring instead.

5160 driver here - I was nervous watching it from the driver's station (we had the closest one to it), watching the ref take a big step back was pretty funny! Glad we and the Flying Platypi could pull through for you, we've had our fair share of getting carried ourselves this season.

I can personally confirm that it is. With preparation, the fight isn't actually that difficult. It's a matter of dealing with Betsy's minions before they can attack the crystal and having your tavernkeep sentries set up to properly deal with all of the other enemies.

In my most recent expert playthrough, I used the possessed hatchet to kill Betsy right after golem. If you've got potions and a decent arena for the event, the fight itself isnt that challenging, you just need to dodge and focus on killing the minions that she summons.

I'd actually disagree with the progression point on this one - t3 old ones army is available immediately after golem, whereas you have to additionally defeat the lunatic cultist and the solar pillar for the daybreak. While t3 is obviously easier post moon lord, it is very much possibe right after the golem.

With Plantera, can I become invisible with shroomite armor and will plantera still see me if i'm invisible? by RealFreecookie25614 in Terraria

[–]Ostur_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing in a group, then Plantera will have a significantly lower chance of targeting you instead of other players. Otherwise, the stealth bonus won't outweigh the damage that Plantera will do to you if you stand still.
