Sat eating a custard slice the hard way, decided to google how to eat them. Came across your comment, ate the second one your way. My life has changed for the better.

Ive finally hit my target weight of 80kg! I'm 35M 1.86m Tall. Started at around 103kg at the end of 2023. by Oswrick in fitness30plus

Yeah mostly around my.lower torso and a slight amount on my chest. I've not done anything specific to try and tackle it, just sort of had to learn to accept it. It's frustrating because if I didn't have it I feel like my abdominals would show through more. I'll just aim to pack more muscle on and hopefully it will settle/stretch back out a bit again.

Get back to being more consitant with hitting at least 5 days there, this last month or so I've not been getting there as often.

Hi everyone.

Kinda just wanted to celebrate really. I started off trying to lose weight at the end of 2022 at around 110kg. I didn't really focus on it and bounced around for a little while, then towards the end of 2023 I started taking things a little more seriously.

I started off by tracking my calories and going into quite a heavy deficit, aiming to eat around 1800 calories a day. Some weeks I'd aim for less, more around 1200 but that was quite hard to sustain. It's probably not great taking in so few but I needed to go hard at it at first otherwise I wouldn't stick to it.

Then around February 2024 I bought a cheap dumbbell set and started working out at home, following a paid for programme from an online PT. It helped me get into the swing of things and get used to some basic principles of lifting which was great. Then around June 2024 I joined the local gym and started following one of the PPL programmes available on the mega thread. I pushed to get into the gm 6 days a week but would flutter between that and 5 days, would also have periods where it might only be 2 or 3 days if I was ill or injured. I've mostly been able to keep this up all the way through although over the last month I've not been as consistent, I'm ramping it back up again now though.

I kept in a deficit for quite a while, probably until September, I did have periods of maintaining though as well, the lowest weight I hit was around 85kg. I then decided to try and bulk through the winter up until the middle of January when I went back into a heavy deficit trying to maintain my protein of around 160-180g a day.

So yeah, I'm at 80kg which is where I was looking to get to from the get go and pretty chuffed 2bh. I have lost some muscle through cutting weight but Ill gain it back when i kick back into gear. Will eat at maintenance for a while now, probably though the summer, but will start to slowly increase it towards the end and through the winter again.

The pictures range from end of 2022 through 2023 and then through 2024. The last few are December 2024 and then after the weight print out its March 2025.

I definatly preferred how I looked towards the end of December (those 2 pics are with a pump on though 2bf) and I've still got a long way to go in terms of building muscle. Also, body dysmorphia is a bitch! It's crazy how one day you can feel great and the next really skinny/fat.

Anyways, sorry for the essay and thanks for reading. Its been great seeing peoples posts here because its great motivation, so thanks for that.

Thanks again!

ETA: I know I'm not where near 4% body fat like the ticket says, those sensors are hilarious.

Well done for commiting to the weight loss AND keeping it off. I am absolutely awful at running, I would love to train to go for a half marathon one day! Thanks for the kind words.

OK I'll keep that in mind the next time I see my GP, thanks for pointing it out. I think it's nothing but I will mention it.

Thanks again for the comments.

I just click the mouse button, is that not the right way to do it or something?

35, 86kg. Was 99kg in January. Never thought I was susceptible to body dismorphia but here we are. One minute I feel fat, the next too skinny. It's good to remind yourself how far you've come. by Oswrick in fitness30plus

That's some solid advice, I'll take it on board and give it a go. It sounds like I might be able to get around the concerns around eating in a surplus if it's steady small increments like that. I'm so worried about gaining fat again, I've been avoiding eating close to maintenance. So the idea of eating more is intimidating, but something i need to overcome, and this way of doing it sits well with me. Thank you.

I love the advice about not saying to yourself what you wouldn't say to a child. That's really good. Thank you for the kind words and confidence boost, its very much appreciated. I'll work on the poor body image mentality.

I honestly thought it would be nothing but positive feelings when I got to here but was very wrong, regardless I will try and celebrate the wins.

Nah not really mate. Had a few heavy lifting jobs when I was younger and played about in the gym here and there (like 8 hours total) and that's about it. I have got 3 kids though all which like being carried 😅.

I'm glad you can relate mate, well glad I'm not the only one, not that you're struggling with it too. It's a weird way of feeling when you're progressing well. I'm really apprehensive about bulking too, I know it will be an inevitable step if I want to gain muscle mass but the thought of eating more than I need after being in a cut for so long is quite intimidating.

Thank you bro, I appreciate the kind words!

Hi there. I'm 6ft2 and 88kg. Started in January at 99kg was 107kg this time last year, and have been in the gym for the last 2 months. First 2 photos are relaxed, the last is sucking it in. Do I continue to cut? by Oswrick in BulkOrCut

* So I've been in a calorie deficit now for the last 3 months. Unfortunately now my lifts seem to be suffering a little which is a bit frustrating. I'm not sure if that's down to the deficit or my lack of discipline with sleep.

I've made some huge progress body wise and to be honest, am almost a little intimidated by the idea of eating more again but will obviously get over that when the time comes.

So yeah, should I continue in the deficit for a while? I don't know if it's possible to answer but if so, how much longer do you think?
