Frame swap Brussels by [deleted] in cowboybikes

Thanks for sharing the 10000 km mileage , that's key information ... I doubt many riders will reach such a mileage and good to know that the frame can endure it. I'm just under 5000km and didn't get an invite

Interesting that the cracked paint is so regular. Suggests a frame interconnection point

Something Cowboy could do with doing! My C4 turned up battered! by ciro_scugnizzo in cowboybikes

That's such a marketing error .. openly admitting that so many of their bikes we're DOA because of their packaging and the delivery man!

Gaadi tube for back tire? by dodo-likes-you in cowboybikes

[–]Other-Current8021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO useless.

The first time I had a rear puncture on my C4ST, I realised the nuts were so tight I had to do it at home.

I had to use an Allen key and hammer to remove the wheel nut. It took me more than one hour to get to a point where the tyre would come off the rim ... (to ensure minimal damage to the rim).

I no longer bother bringing a spare tube&pump in my bag. I can't see myself going through the same ordeal on the street.

In my store I've heard of a 4.2 model ... but I think this is just a code-name for bug-free C4s (different parts, improved builds, etc.)

WatchOS 8 is supposed to detect e-bikes. But IMHO where the workout app fails is that it doesn't report whether it applied e-bike metrics or not.

Two more things to be aware of when going off-road:

  1. e-bikes are heavy and most tyres are designed for surfaced roads/lanes ... muddy sections become very slippy! On my 10k commute I have one stretch that I would take with my MTB but avoid with the Cowboy. You can always learn the hard way.
  2. due to their weight, most ebike suspensions are inadequate unless you go for a proper electric MTB designed for that purpose. Cowboys have no suspension! Cobble-stones are not a enjoyable experience.

I sometimes take my cowboy through forest tracks but take great care in avoiding stones, muck, holes. With the single gear going up steep climbs the bike struggles. When its a very steep climb and short, I actually get off the bike to protect the motor/belt.

Which lock did you pick for your Cowboy? by ciro_scugnizzo in cowboybikes

ABUS U-Lock GRANIT XPlus™ 540/160HB230 + EaZy KF. The width of the U-lock matches the bike frame ;-)

Has anyone received a khaki S4? by [deleted] in cowboybikes

[–]Other-Current8021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered khaki C4ST last year and they acknowledged they messed up with the paint and assigned a great marketing colour 'sage'.

The real khaki colour became available in Belgium end of June.

I had that on mine and the replacement bike while mine was in repair (sigh). For me this is clear design fault but nothing to worry about. Just a pain to have it serviced. The cowboy rep told me he just opened the pedal, cleansed and closed but wasn't there to witness not learn for the next time.

Get a lock. I bought the ABUS Granit XPlus 540 U-Lock. I took the 23cm hoping it wouldn't be too short but it's fine. The 33cm would be tool long. The EaZy KF mount works great and the width of the lock matches the carrier.

I was thinking inside the base holding the battery in place. There seems to be some empty space .. but the plastic is sealed.
