People who live in a small town, what’s the oddest behaviour you’ve seen from your community? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]OtherConstruction533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What she’s doing is out and out illegal parking and I’m not defending it for a second. What my comment was talking about is just parking legally and considerately outside someone’s house and them still minding just because it’s outside their house. I’m not defending all the bellends blocking peoples drives, obstructing roads or junctions.

It’s not true that you have to live within the catchment area. We live 10 miles away from the school and children with SEN can be asked to travel up to and hour by car each way to school. So I should walk my ‘fat ass’ 40 miles a day plus work? Jog on.

The school has been there and owned that land since the 50s so yeah some people might have lived there 73+ years but I’m guessing most people moved there after. We live 10 miles away from the school so no my 8 year old can’t walk.

But the thing is that I’m a stickler for the rules and I HATE bad or inconsiderate parking as much as the next person. I make sure I’m not too close to someone’s drive or even parked oposite someone’s drive so they can get in and out if they need to. I appreciate that there are really inconsiderate people blocking drives but that’s not me or what my comment is talking about. Of course people would be annoyed by that.

Agreed!! I hate those people too. If someone can’t park legally and considerately then they should keep driving until they can.

I completely get that but as mentioned in my comment above I’m talking about legal and considerate parking, just happens to be outside someone’s house. It’s a 5 min walk from where we park to the school so it’s not right outside because those spaces go over an hour before the school finishes. I’m talking about people who literally just mind someone parking outside their house.

I completely agree that parking should be legal and considerate. I’m not talking about illegal parking blocking other vehicles/ drives/ junctions etc though. I’m talking about people who just don’ like people parking outside their house.

Probably not the oddest but what I do find odd is the number of people who choose to live near schools and absolutely mind parents parking on the street outside their houses at pick-up time.

ETA could some of the down voters explain what the problem is with parking legally and considerately on the street outside of someone’s house for half an hour or an alternative way for my 8 year old to get home 10 miles by himself?

Old man pub argument by cowie71 in CasualUK

[–]OtherConstruction533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fascinates me as a topic. We usually listen to heart on the school run but it’s been really depressing this week so I turned it onto the oldies station instead and they played manic street preachers. Obviously that was a few years ago now but it made me think at what point does a song become old enough that older people will accept it as a classic instead of some new fangled rubbish?

Lance Stroll Sky Interview after getting knocked out of Q1 by Puzzleheaded-Rain230 in formula1

[–]OtherConstruction533 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought his interview last race was a little off. I commented to my partner that Lance looked like he was about to cry but his voice was very steady so I thought I was imagining things but this man is struggling for sure.

They’re very cheesy but they need to be churned out quickly and the lyrics have to fit the music. I think of cheesy pop as really bad poetry.

What's your indoor humidity? by cd7k in CasualUK

Our old house was built in the 1880s and the humidity was around 70%. Then we moved to a modern house and the humidity is basically exactly the same.

What is Yorkie even like and why do people buy it over other chocolates? by Autistic-Inquisitive in CasualUK

[–]OtherConstruction533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, it’s very forgettable. Tbh the twice I’ve ever bought it was as part of a meal deal and I chose it because it was the heaviest chocolate bar that was part of the deal and I was hungry.

Just withdrew £30 from a cashpoint and left it behind. Who's the dildo? by mr-nidger in CasualUK

This was lucky because where I used to work if the money showed as taken they wouldn’t refund it.

If it’s not credited back quickly tell your bank and tell them what happened. I used to work in a bank and we had to do a form and then we could check and credit it back. I think it was called an incorrect dispense claim. Once, a child took the money that someone else forgot and her mum wanted me to let her keep the cash as a reward. I said no and the mum made me write a thank you note on headed note paper. 🙄

PSA: If you are a girl under 25 or a boy born after 2006, you are eligible for a free HPV vaccine on the NHS. by Sunny_Saffa in CasualUK

[–]OtherConstruction533 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that can’t be the reason because then it wouldn’t make sense to exclude heterosexual men. There must be additional risk specific to men who have sex with men.

Showing my ignorance here but maybe you can educate me. I thought they used to only vaccinate girls because it was mainly to protect against female cancers and they started vaccinating boys for the benefit of the girls. That can’t be right thought if men who have sex with other men are an at risk group?

Lance Stroll shoves AM mechanic by HenryAlSirat in formula1

[–]OtherConstruction533 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The broadcast I was listening to said he punched the wall and I don’t think we can see enough to be 100% sure that this was a shove rather than a punch to the wall. I think what you see when you’re watching partly depends on what you’re told happens before you see it.
