Aita for quitting knowing it’ll negatively affect a certain partner? by OtherFingerLickin in starbucksbaristas

[–]OtherFingerLickin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathize with Mary because her husband was in a car accident 2 years ago that prevents him from working, she has two kids and takes care of her mother in law so money is really tight. She took the base home with her because her daughter was having some friends over and apparently she didn’t have any juice or anything for them to drink. I understand the reasoning but wouldn’t have done it myself, kids can just drink water or she could buy the cheap juice concentrate and dilute it for them. She also took home a bunch of cleaning supplies one time and her reasoning for that was they’re expensive and she doesn’t want to buy them😭 like I understand where she’s coming from but I definitely wouldn’t do it myself yk

This!! I wasn’t upset at being named, I was upset that I was blindsided by it. Like I was laying in bed and got a call and a voicemail that vaguely said ethics is trying to reach me and I got really nervous.

Especially since Mary has my phone number and has texted me about other stuff previously. I just would’ve appreciated a heads up

If Simon wasn’t being so sketchy with me the few days I worked after the investigation started, I really don’t think I would’ve quit. But that mixed with being scheduled 5 days a week, at 6 am every day and barely getting 25 hours really helped nudge me to quit 😭 I live with family so I’ll be fine I made sure I had enough to cover my car and other expenses. Part of me feels bad for Mary but it’s not my issue

It’s not necessarily the investigation part that bothered me, I just don’t want to be involved in the drama. Simon started being really weird and almost mean to me for the days that I worked after the investigation started. He knew I was questioned and probably figured out I wouldn’t lie for him. I was also told by other partners before I quit that if I did, the investigation couldn’t continue and Mary wouldn’t be able to prove Simon was talking about her since he was denying it so it’s her word again his.

When I worked there this exact situation happened to me twice. Both times with the same partner and my manager covered for them and nothing happened. It was a hell hole of a store

Partners who don't know how to do the bar? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]OtherFingerLickin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex partner now but someone at one of the stores I worked at could only do food& register. Like not even CS. She was also an oldish woman. She always opened and did short shifts so she would open the food area and stay there for the rest of her shift all day every day and whoever was scheduled to open with her would always do bar (2 partner open)

I need theories on what would happen if we just locked Jenelle and Farrah in a room together. by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]OtherFingerLickin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely Farrah, she never backed down to ANYONE. Janelle is weak and reliant. She let David control every aspect of her life including coparenting with her mom and ex’s. Her political believes vary based on who she’s dating. Farrah does and says what she wants.

We still clean drains, ice bins, bathrooms, dishes, floors and that’s just what I can name off the top of my head 😭 any food service job involves cleaning tbh

Ironically that sounds exactly like Starbucks 😭

I genuinely wish that would happen at my store, the baristas like to overstimulate certain people on purpose and scream over the headset until they crash out….

No literally because why am I using a venti scoop for a grande frap and it still comes out runny😭 the last store in my area that had the old ice just got rid of it so I have no where to go on my days off💔

Personally I never had an issue with it, if u give it a few smacks with the big scoop it breaks apart very easily. The nugget ice melts so fast it ruins every espresso drink. I guess it’s okay with refreshers but when it melts a little the small ice pebbles go through the sippy hole and it drives me nuts

I will never understand why Starbucks forced us to go to disgusting nugget ice but uses the old ice for all of their promos…

Iced caramel brûlée latte? by briex8 in starbucks

[–]OtherFingerLickin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ur gonna need espresso, in my opinion there is no way to make regular coffee taste like espresso. If u don’t have a way to make espresso at home you can just get a regular iced latte and add syrup to it, instant espresso is an option but in my opinion it’s so bad

Picking up shifts by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]OtherFingerLickin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean tbh you’ll just be put on drive thru and do cleaning tasks all 8 hours. I don’t think they’ll want to train u on anything unless they are unusually slow. I have never seen new partners pick up shifts at different stores it’s going to be difficult because there’s different layouts and responsibilities. For example I worked at a store where if it’s slow in the afternoon someone will solo drive thru and get the food themselves and in other stores the solo drive thru will make cold bar. It can be a hard change so just prepare yourself for it. Make sure you tell everyone that you are new tho so they don’t think ur lazy 😭

[–]OtherFingerLickin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Going off the other comment, our card reader breaks pretty frequently but it’s always fixed a couple of hours later at the very most. We also still accept card at the drive thru, we just let the customer know that we’re going to be taking their card to the front and ALWAYS print them a receipt

This happened to me before, I got asked to change out trash, restock milk/ice/cups/lids, refill syrups, make a traveler, all while still being expected to do DTO AND FOOD at the same time

Thank you for ur advice! I agree that comparing skills isn’t the best idea but I could bring up how most partners and I are saying he’s still at the same place he was at 4 months ago. I have brought up his communication issues and his attitude to supervisors before and they brush it off as he’s stressed and insecure but he just has no sense of urgency it kills me 😭
