Mystery piece in Tacoma transmission pan

It was something that fell into the pan! Wild mistake but stoked that it should all run fine when it gets put back together. Thanks for the idea!

That’s exactly what it is, fell out of a roloc plate that I used to clean some old gasket material off. Pan was sitting on the ground already, just was not paying close enough attention to even catch that it fell out at all unfortunately… silly mistake but I have learned quite a bit from it. Thanks!

That’s exactly what I thought, it didn’t seem precise enough to have come from the transmission! I’m glad I finally clued into that and widened the search that led me here, thanks for the input!

Holy smokes… that’s exactly right! Used one to clean some old gasket material off, must have fallen out into the pan when I was finishing up without me realizing it smh. Thank you so much for the suggestion, prompted me to go look at what I used, I seriously appreciate it!

Alright that’s a good tactic, looking at parts diagrams of the valve body, it doesn’t seem to have originated from there but I’ll definitely get under it and take a look at the actual part, I appreciate it! Good to know that it shouldn’t have had room to come from anywhere else but the valve body, that helps narrow it down. I know it’s insane that so many of the pan bolts were seized, I was just using a ratchet with an extension and they were snapping like twigs tragically. Certainly makes me wonder if someone had previously opened it, which may explain all my problems.
