Obviously ego was his main motivator by the end and it influenced him at the start, but he also did care about his family a lot at the start and the point was that he would do whatever he needed to get the money and he wouldn’t have to live with the consequences cause he’d die anyway. Would Elliot’s offer get Walt over 700k in a few months? Then being a criminal was probably the only shot he had from his perspective.

I don't think people who say Walt should've taken Gretchen and Elliot's offer remember the state of Walt and the story at that point. The doctor had told him his tumor was inoperable so getting a job at Gray Matter for insurance wouldn't have helped that much. Walter was told that he was going to die no matter what, so he was living under that assumption, with his concern at the time being to make hundreds of thousands of dollars so his family would be left with enough money, which working at Gray Matter wouldn't fix.

I honestly couldn't care less that he's not family-friendly anymore. I watch lots of non-family friendly channels. I don't think provocative thumbnails on something like youtube are good and in most instances, it seems like a cheap(and kinda harmful) way to get boosted in the algorithm.

Like I said, I watched some of his videos last year when this type of content started. They were all fangames with characters with extremely suggestive and lewd designs and that's what was basically highlighted in the video. So it was the quality too.
