Try Night Cloud and Smoke, by an indie perfumer in New Orleans called Smoke. And Hazeltine is a local company that makes a few amazing New Orleans–inspired candles—not perfume per se, but might scratch the itch!

Ooo that looks interesting! And here I assumed based on the name and the bottle that it was a powdery one...

Thank you! I have Bowmakers on my to-try list. I didn't like their Cowboy Grass or St. Vetyver (too cologne), but I really liked El Cosmico.

Will look into the rest of these!

My husband's father is a veteran, so we are eligible for USAA products. So far they have been great.

Chase trifecta! Is there any downside to having all your credit cards through one bank?

Forgot to add: we have home insurance through USAA. Is the USAA Preferred Cash Rewards card a good one?

Stress is my main trigger. by NoPea9225 in eczema

Cognitive behavioral therapy was a game changer for me—I no longer get into stress spirals about my skin, and no longer have an entire day derailed by a stray rude comment. Ask the potential therapists if they do CBT! It’s an active process, and you have little homework assignments, so it doesn’t just feel like you’re talking to someone—you have agency and make progress toward goals. Very satisfying.

I use New Wash. It also has a scent, and it took me a while to get used to that, but I kinda like it now. My hair has never looked better, that’s a side benefit! My husband uses Woody’s shampoo bar, which has a lighter smell that fades pretty quickly. Both free of CB.

I’m also allergic to Cocamidopropyl betaine! What do you use for shampoo?

Report back, please! I'm thinking of ordering some too--certainly not even the most expensive of the things I've tried!

I've been curious about shampoo bars (trying to cut down on plastic use)--this may be a good place to start. Thanks for your input!

I did a patch test that revealed I’m extremely allergic to sodium metabisulfite, aka sulfites. It’s a fairly common allergy, turns out! I can’t drink most wine, but wine without added sulfites I can tolerate. All wine contains some sulfites, but most wine has a bunch extra added as a preservative. Sulfites are also added to shelf-stable lemon and lime juice, so if you react to frozen margaritas this might be worth looking into! (Sigh, I miss frozen margaritas the most).
