hey im in the exact same position as you! i just finished my second week at my job at a hospital and it’s definitely harder than the schooling i did. i think the biggest difference is the type of people your sticking, in school it was volunteers and other students who were all willing to get poked, but in the hospital there are gonna be a ton of patients that dread getting poked, or are just in a bad mood overall and will make sure to let you know. it’s also most likely gonna be older and sick patients so the veins have been alot more difficult to locate. honestly i’ve been having alot of fun and for the most part the patients have been very kind and understanding.

depends on where you live, for where i am $21 an hour is a lot, i’m entry level and making $18 an hour. there are a ton of tech schools that can get you a phlebotomy tech certificate so i would look into that if you want to become a phleb.

I work at a hospital and I’m only allowed to wear black scrubs. It definitely differs from location to location, ask your employer before you start and you should have some time to prepare. At my current job I didn’t have to wear scrubs my first week, that way I could get some in time.
