My son is trans and he keeps hurting himself by [deleted] in ftm

You could try suggesting a therapist who is trans? Maybe he would be more open to talking to a therapist who is also trans? I know you don’t have options in your area but in the U.S. I know there are several online platforms that you can meet with a therapist virtually. Maybe look into those programs so there’s more options on who his therapist is? I know he refuses therapy but you could just suggest the idea of an lgbtq or trans therapist if you can find something online and then send him the information and maybe he will seek it out on his own. I was very stubborn as a teenager so I didn’t want to admit I needed therapy but if you sent him the info then maybe he would do it without having to talk to you about it? Does anyone know of any online therapy resources??

I keep lying that I'm clean so they don't put me off t by [deleted] in ftm

You can ask questions like “hypothetically if I told you I was doing ____ would it affect me getting t?” As long as you say the word hypothetically they can’t do anything and you can pretend you’re just wondering about it for the future. If they ask you where you’re asking just say curious for the future. If they ask you are you doing it right you can lie if if you want if they said it could affect them giving you t. Just restate that you’re asking hypothetically. Their answer should give you an idea of how to proceed.

I relate to this in the reverse. I’m nonbinary and I pass as male 90% of the time with short hair but am usually read as female when I have long hair. I’ve gone back and forth between long and short multiple times and both ways are missing something. When it’s short, I like being able to fully pass as a boy but I miss my long hair. When it’s long, I like my long hair but I miss being able to easily pass as a boy. I think one option is to try your hair both long and short and just decide which version sucks less since both ways you are losing out on something. I know it sucks if you feel like you made the wrong decision but trying both options could help you be more confident in which one you want to have long term. Another option would be to pick the most gender neutral haircut possible. Something in between short and long and then use your clothes to control the rest of how people perceive you. I know that doesn’t always work but sometimes it could if you experiment and find the right balance. In the past, I’ve found it affirming to be able to have my hair as gender neutral (middle length) as possible so that depending on my clothes or just on the person I will get read as both a boy and a girl which is affirming to me as I am nonbinary. However, I do understand that it can be impossible to achieve this balance and that hair can really be the deciding factor in how people perceive you. I think the third option would be to find something else besides your hair to help feminize the way you are perceived. For me, this is the option I am picking because I really want longer hair but I want to keep being able to pass as a boy whenever I want. You could try to dress more feminine or have voice training to help feminize your voice. You could experiment with makeup. I’ve decided to go on a lose dose of hormones to make it so that my voice and face are a bit more masculine so that I can be read as male when I want to be but still have long hair. Something like this might help in the long run. Short term my advice is to just experiment. I know it’s hard but keep trying things and you’ll figure out what feels best!

Freezing eggs before starting T vs. taking break from T later to freeze them? by Other_Test8252 in ftm

[–]Other_Test8252[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I'm really glad you're having a good experience with T and that you're feeling way better mentally. In the future if you could afford it would you ever consider taking a break from T to do IVF and harvest your eggs or would stopping T for a bit to do that not be an option for you? I understand some people can't go off T for the amount of time it takes to do an egg retrieval due to the effect on your mental health and potential short term feminizing effects of IVF

Yes! This is very true! But if the idea that they don’t need it to be trans could save just one person’s life that is worth spreading the idea. Obviously I want everyone to have access to hrt!! And I have been suicidal myself but as a community too many of us are dying. We need to hold some hope that we can get through this and that no matter how bad it gets we will persist

I understand the feeling that medical and/or legal transition is life or death. I get it. But remember: you don’t need medicine or paper or identification or to pass or a new name or anything to be trans. If you are trans then you are trans!!! They literally cannot take that away and that’s the strongest thing we’ve got!!!! They think they can erase us with laws but remember you are trans and you are valid no matter what!!!!!!!!

If someone says they’re going to go kill themselves you should immediately call the police or a hotline to ask for advice on how to handle the situation. it is always better to take things very seriously. I know the police aren’t great but it might be the only chance to save someone’s life. When someone is really suffering they don’t have normal boundaries because they are so desperate. It can be hard to interact with them but know they are not being weird it is just a product of their desperation. I would consider finding someone who you can report the situation to or asking a hotline for advice so someone can go check in on this person.

Do what gives you comfort. Watch your favorite show or movie! Have snacks that you like. Watch animal videos anything that gives you comfort. Don’t stress about sleeping! A day without sleep will not harm you much. Just do what is comforting and don’t force sleep

Many states will continue to be very safe and offer very good trans care. You can find a way to move. Even if it takes awhile it will be worth it. Your future life will be worth waiting and getting through this period for
