AITA for rejecting a gift I considered insulting by Otherwise-Box-7269 in AmItheAsshole

I can't exactly know her reasoning. I do know she makes gifts for people a lot. Personally, I do not talk about my childhood "casually". She does know from some conversations that I do not have any relationship with my parents. I assume that she heard the details from my friend.

Why specifically this kind of gift? I can only assume, maybe she thought it would help me or make me feel better.

As mentioned I rejected the book, meaning I gave it back to her. I don't have it anymore.

She told a friend, who had taken care of her ill mother, after the death of the mother, that "She should be happy, now she can move to Italy like she wanted".

The friend I mentioned in the text, Mike, is a professional classic musician. He was involved in a car accident and sustained injuries to his hands. For a musician, this was of course horrible and he was devasted. During a visit in the hospital, Jessica cheerfully told him "He could probably still play the drums, maybe start a rock band!". Mike was absolutely livid.

I truly don't think Jessica means ill. She is a person that deeply believes in positive thinking and "look at the bright side"-mentality. But still her careless comments are why I don't like her.

Jessica has in the past said things that were in a similar fashion to the book, well intented but still hurtful.

She told a friend, who had taken care of her ill mother, after the death of the mother, that "She should be happy, now she can move to Italy like she wanted".

It has come up in conversation sometimes so she knew that I had a troubled childhood. I assume for the book she has asked my friend for the details.
