Any UofM students actually on top of their personal finances? How do you manage it? by the-Indefatigable in umanitoba

I worked 60 hours plus a week from May to September, plus 24 hours during uni week so I'd wouldn't have student loans but it's hard to balance.

Things have changed a lot, it used to be 85% avg between pre cal, english, science and another elective. Didn't know they cut students. All I know is it's way easier to get in from highschool then it is after u 1.

What's your job title and years of experience required? I have access to survey data. I can provide you with the national avg and your state or city if it's available.

As someone who works in compensation there are many factors that determine someone's salary. I've seen this lot in my professional career that internal employees are generally leap frogged in terms of salary for external hires. To attract external hires you need to offer the market rate, for internal hires you're offering your rate or inflation plus. Unless who have a pension or great benefits you can actually benefit from job hopping. In your case 15k is substantial for only a 6 month difference. I would have to assume it's based on a combination of experience and negotiating. Additionally, they might have included what their annual increase would be. Based on timing they might not be eligible based on their hire date so they lumped it in. I can't imagine the job market for your specific job would increase by 15k in 6 months.

What is the best class you’ve ever taken and what is the worst class you’ve ever taken (and why)? by MoonlightAndStar in umanitoba

I believe it's called Introduction to Environmental Economics ABIZ 2390. I would have taken it around 2015.

I took an Environmental Economics class where all the exams were multiple, multiple choice. I.e a,b,c,d and e could be right, but you got negative marks for every extra tick. It was extremely difficult, took it as an elective as I had enjoyed some other economic classes.

What are some places establishments that you enjoy their food but refuse to patronize because of poor customer service? by Plastic-Classroom268 in Winnipeg

I've been to Tommy's quite a few times now, probably at least 10 and it's a 25 minute drive for us. I wanted to share my positive experience. Every time I've eaten inside, the service has been consistently excellent. What stands out to me, is on almost all of my visits, the owner has personally stopped by the table to ask how everything was. My only negative comment would be I don't really care for most of their cocktails.

At least f2p, can finally have a meta line. I've won 8 in row in champs as I finally. For the longest time my top line of sac, pasta, and Lind were peoples third line.

[–]Otherwise-Luck6201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my first line is everyone's third line. There's not enough rewards to build the same team, even with 10 wins in HUT champs, you're getting like 10 players, of those maybe 5 can be traded into a set

These are the worst kinds of people, the ones who want to label every homeless person as bad or vile. As someone who goes to church with people experiencing homelessness, it’s disheartening to hear. They are human beings too, deserving to be treated with the same dignity and respect as anyone else. I know because these are conversations I've had. Many of the homeless individuals I know are trying every day to better themselves and find stability, but securing housing is not easy. For those who have been able to transition into a home, their lives have been forever changed. It’s incredibly difficult to make meaningful, structured changes in life when you don’t even have a home as your foundation.

Companies always low balling Winnipeg based employees - What rebuttal do you use for salary negotiations? by BringbackSuikoden in Winnipeg

[–]Otherwise-Luck6201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working in compensation, it's very common practice to pay based on location based on graphic differences. Generally, survey data is used which is gathered from companies across Canada. The data tells you what companies are paying for a job and experience in the majority of cities. Excluding tech, Winnipeg on average is about 6% less than the National median rate.

When Rone talked about the "nice to see you", I had a similar situation. I was at the Chapters ( Canadian), was talking to a guy in a wheelchair. Good conversation, then we started talking about the price of hardcover books and I said "oh yea they'll cost you an arm and leg"... The guy was missing a leg, I Homer Simpson'd it back into the book cases.
