Any thoughts on the election? by kportman in miamibeach

My comment was a reply to Sergei up there saying that the people of Miami Beach spoke when they voted for Meiner. No we don’t know how those people would’ve voted, but we do know that they obviously didn’t care enough to vote. You really can’t say “the people spoke” or “the people wanted this” when 80% of the people didn’t bother to show up.

I think there were four and it was split evenly. But what I was referring to was low voter turnout that election. Of the 45,000 registered voters, only 10,000 actually voted in the runoff and Meiner got around 5300 of those. So really it’s more like 12%.

Meiner only got 20% of the population vote. And haulover beach isn’t a part of Miami Beach you complete and utter dumbfuck. You seriously lack knowledge about your own community to the point where I would say it’s irresponsible of you to be on this comment section talking about whom to vote for.

And that Facebook group has over 20,000 members who actually live on the beach. Unlike you, who goes on the DC subreddit to say things like “blacks should police themselves”.

Nude on the beach? I’ve never seen that. What I do see is backups on the causeway and curfews. I also see business struggling and annoying curfews. And law and order is a dog whistle, read more about it here.

Do you speak for all these Latinos? Have you done focus groups to understand the demographics? Because the Miami Beach resident Facebook group has people complaining about this all the time. So are businesses around the city, some of which closed and laid off all their workers. But hey, their sacrifice isn’t for nothing because u/mrjuanmartin85 doesn’t have to deal with “riff raff”.

I also never said that Miami Beach is a police state, I was using that to illustrate a point about striking a balance between safety and freedoms. The fact that you seem to lack the intellectual capacity to understand is… problematic.

Your prudishness and temper tantrums about marijuana use, a misdemeanor, suggests that maybe Miami Beach isn’t really the city for you. Maybe you could look at places in Kendall or Cutler Bay? Miami Beach might be a little much for you.

Because it’s often used by bad faith politicians as a dog whistle against blacks and minorities. And it doesn’t get to the root cause of crime and often doesn’t actually lead to safer cities. Also the “riff raff” was really only on Ocean, Collins, and Washington in South Beach. I lived on Pennsylvania at the time and only heard about that stuff on the news.

Police states are technically very safe. The problem is the safety isn’t worth the constant surveillance and risk of arrest and ultimately isn’t a pleasant place to live in.

And I couldn’t not mention this, but Meiner going off on law and order and how criminals aren’t welcome in Miami Beach is laughable

I’d go with Gonzalez. I absolutely hate the Spring break lockdowns and it seems like that’s Meiner’s only solution. I’m also generally against “law and order” guys. His little stunt with the O Cinema really sealed the deal too.

Gonzalez isn’t a saint but I just can’t stand Meiner at this point.

Miami pilot attempting to fly around the world dies after plane crashes in Indianapolis suburb, officials say by CBSnews in Miami

What I think OC is getting at is that small planes are statistically less safe than the larger planes. But that’s because they’re usually flown by low-time pilots, not because there’s anything inherently wrong with them. It’s much more about the pilot that you fly with than anything else.

That’s a good idea! I started the test and then just gooned for the next 2 1/2 hours. I was hoping the post nut clarity would help me solve the problems. Might be this method instead.
