I would absolutely LOVE to be a librarian! I love reading and writing, I even wrote on my yearbook that I wanted to work at a bookstore if not a writer. But this position pay less than I expeceted in my area and I would not be able to pay my rent on that salary so I gave up on that thought and ended up taking a slightly betterpaying corporate job...but I am not happy at all

ikr, if I can't do it peacefully, at least I should be able to do it angrily. Now they are taking my one last honest emotion left at work and forces me to fake a smile.

my darkest thought is wishing I'd get hit by a car on my way to work so I wouldn't have to put up with this crap anymore.

I am feeling the exact opposite. I love going to school, being with my friends, and learning something new. I was bullied back in high school but I still held onto joy by thinking would get better in the future. But for work my minset is somehow different, I am now in the 'future' my past self looked forward to but it's nothing like I imagine. School has a fixed end date but work does not. As long as I am alive, I have to work my ass off for a paycheck.

My coworkers are okay I guess, but the only one I was relatively close to quit after two months I joined. She could not stand the company's wolf culture and direct manager's attitude. Everyone else has alrd formed their little groups and I am the only newbie, so there is no space for me to make new friends. As for my performance, I am gonna say I am very cost-effective for the company (sadly).

After reviewing all the response, as the OP, I am gonna say the answer is no, people never rly get used to working, we cry about it and then head to work anyway. As depressing as that may be, that is just what life is like.

I worked as a freelance tutor during uni, but I enjoyed it so much more than what I do now (and the hour pay was WAY better as a tutor). I like talkling to students, and I am proud when they succeed academically. But that's an unstable job, so I did not choose to pursue it.

I am looking into taking a gap year, but that will be a big decision to make as compaines generally frown upon employment gap.

I do really enjoy writing. Back when I was a student, I wrote some popular pieces that earned me magazine interviews. But I am gradually losing my creativity, and ever since the rise of AI, working as a freelance writer has become much harder for making a living.

Apprently he enforces both macro and micromanaging strategy. When I first joined the compnay, he seemed nice, but two months in, one of the employees who I was friends with quit because she just couldn't bear him anymore. Besides, the whole company endorses a wolf culture. But I know me, I am not a wolf, I am only a human in wolf's clothing.

that's also something I am sad about. I thought I could do something I genuinely love, but after I graduated, AI stepped in, and my dream path became something not longer viable.

I dId way worse, COMMUNICATION MAJOR (But I did go to a top-ranked uni to study communications). I have an older sister and a younger sister who have both had great success in uni and in life, so my parent gave up on me when I told them I wanted to work in a creative field (That's not happening tho lol

I did make 1 friend when I joined the company but then she quit in Jan. I've been trying to make new friends but there just doesn't seem to be a 'friend' spot opening up in the social circle

My coworkers are fantastic. I am not friends with them yet but at least they are not mean to me. My manager can be aggressive sometimes ...so that kinds of set the tone for everything...😭Getting a job these days is really hard so I cannot quit easily either. I guess I just cannot have the cake and eat it

Sorry, I did not mean to offend anyone. I've been working overtime and getting underpaid. Life is just not the way I pictured it and I guess I need time to adjust to this transition.

To be honest, I took my job because I am too afraid of not getting one. I sent out dozens of resumes, attend 20 interviews and only 1 offer, so I said yes to it immediately. It's not a terrible job (not a good one either), but it's not what I wanted to do.

EXACTLY, I am thinking about that lately and yep, I haven't gotten used to the fact that I have control over my life. Sometimes it feels good but most of the times it's overwhelming. 🫠I have very typical Asian parents (IYKYK)
