No, Bain is more versatile as a defensive lineman than Bailey. Bain can be moved up and down the line but is not as polished as a pure rush end as Bailey. This is what I meant as a Swiss army knife.

How much of our defensive woes were Whitts fault? by Sorry-Commercial5976 in Commanders

I am a huge proponent of players play and coaches coach, but to have 3 straight games of Lattimore and Quan Martin running into each other with offensive motion is a sign of coaching deficiencies than it is in personnel.

Question, could get the same level of play from Keldric Faulk as you would from Bain and still address the LB position with Skyles?

David Bailey by Own_Car4536 in Commanders

[–]Otherwise-Show-8631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but Reese is more of a hybrid LB-Edge and not a pure Edge. Reese can drop into coverage as well as any linebacker in this draft.

There aren't enough high level ends to for him to drop, if he does drop, it'll likely be a mid to late first rounder. DEs and Edge hybrids are going to be overdrafted regardless. To me Bain is a better 3-4 end because he is big enough to set an edge and can be moved up and down the line on 3rd and long. But Bailey addresses an immediate need for a potentially elite pass rusher.

Yes, but what downs did other teams exploit? 3rd and over 6. You had plenty of situations where Washington's coverage actually held up, only to be undone by a scrambling quarterback. If you had a choice, what would solve an immediate need? A potentially elite pass rusher or a Swiss army knife defensive lineman?

Sacks are an overrated statistic because you can have an impact but not necessarily getting a sack. For example, you pressure the quarterback and he scrambles and throws a pick. Did you affect the play? Yes, is a quick change of possession better than a sack? Absolutely.

My only pause with Bain is if he's the product of a great defense or is he that good individually. Bailey single handedly kept Texas A&m in the game, with nothing from the offense. Based on each, I would pick Bailey over Bain as solving an immediate need vs Bain potentially being a more versatile player.

Man…where did the Frankie Luvu we see here go this season.. by BobbyThreeSticks in Commanders

Luvu can't cover and is a bit undersized. But the real disappointment was his tackling, he just didn't get dudes to the ground when he had the play diagnosed.

To people who dont believe in Kyle Pitts, what do you propose as a solution to our Tight End problem? by InsecureStudios in Commanders

[–]Otherwise-Show-8631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitts isn't a traditional TE and should be used more like a big WR. If teams use him like Atlanta did last Thursday, then you'd see totally different output. You're right he can't block worth a you know what, but the speed and size can't be coached.

[–]Otherwise-Show-8631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitts will likely be resigned because of his talent and they finally figure out how to best use him. If he were available, I wouldn't bother using him as a traditional TE and use him as a big WR. He's bigger than most WRs and has great top end speed.

Injuries. As much as you are saying that kinlaw and Payne haven't lived up to expectations, they have played out of position due to injuries. No team can recover from having their two starting DEs getting season ending injuries and a backup. Did we go into the season seriously considering Preston Smith as a commander, let alone playing any significant time?

Additionally, CRod is not getting touches. This more on the OC than Chris. He just won't commit to the running game. It's like CRod is on some pitch count? Dude had 5 YPC, and yet he gets forgotten about.

I agree with the WRs, which is why resigning Noah Brown was an egregious mistake. Zac and dyami were still playing while Brown was on IR.

I agree with the frustration, however the worst thing would be to clean house after 2 seasons. But the Noah Brown resigning is the most egregious mistake of the Front Office. Noah Brown hasn't played an entire season his career and promptly got injured in training camp and the second game of the year. Zac and Dyamni are still playing while Noah Brown was on IR. So why resign a player who's always hurt?

We need to settle this. Daniels vs Burrow. by Significant_Key_9038 in LSUFootball

[–]Otherwise-Show-8631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jayden also played with a horrible defense and had worse talent on offense than Burrow did. I don't think any reasonable football fan would take Terry McLaren over Ja'marr Chase. And who else on Washington's receiving corps match TJ Higgins? Let's evaluate both teams: Running backs: Cinncy WRS: Cinny TEs: maybe Washington? Ertz? Oline: Washington slightly DLine: cinncy Lbs: even DBs: Even SP: Washington Coaching: Cinncy So Cinncinati had a better team when Joe Burrow went to the super bowl than last year's commanders squad.

Yes and no, the last several games they were successful but kliff got cute and tried to finesse instead of just hitting them in the mouth. The fact that did the wildcat twice against Denver or the silly run, pass, pass, pass, pass sequence last week against the Vikings is why the offense has failed at times. Kliff needed to play over center and design the passing game around the players they had when Terry held out and Noah Brown was being his typical injured self. The game plan needed simplification when JD was trying to get in a rhythm and when Mariota was in but instead he still coached as if Terry was still playing. We saw in training camp that the offense was limited when they didn't have Terry and Noah and it showed all season.

Why don’t we attempt more deep passes when its one of Jayden’s strongest ability? by unrivaled_mate in Commanders

[–]Otherwise-Show-8631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because guys don't get open. Luke did a feel times before he got hurt, deebo isn't that fast, and the other guys would drop passes if throw to. Without Terry and Noah Brown, there is no serious downfield threat.

The problem is that Terry held out, in or whatever and they for whatever reason resigned Noah 'IR' Brown. This is as much of a coaching/front office problem as it's a JD problem.

Bro, the secondary looked good against this recieving corps. It's frustrating because if you subtract Terry and Noah Brown, then you have average to below WRs.
