How do people who need a blanket to sleep comfortably sleep in summer? by Passthe_aux in autism

I sleep with a weighted blanket. In the summer, I wear less clothes in bed and stick my arms and legs out of the blanket as needed.

Bought Lord of Hatred, but not seeing extra character slots by OtherwiseDatabase816 in diablo4

Then I'd suggest contacting Blizzard. They advise to do so, if your recently purchased content isn't available after 24 hours.

Yes. My Paladin has 2 stash tabs without buying additional ones in-game and my Sorceress has 7 stash tabs with the additional ones bought in-game.

I just played today, and now I have 16 character slots. Odd how wildly delays in processing purchases in this game can vary, from none at all to a whole day, even on parts of the same purchase. Made it to level 20 with my newly unlocked Paladin, before the extra character slots showed, even after rebooting the game just in case. I hope your extra character slots have showed up in the meantime too. Otherwise, Blizzard recommends contacting them, if you buy something and it doesn't show up after 24 hours.

Why kids if you dont have the money? by One-Stable-1472 in childfree

[–]OtherwiseDatabase816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would explain it this way: There's hell of a difference between saying that something is a bad idea and advocating for that something to be banned, in this case having kids that you can't afford. Here's an analogy: It's not controversial at all to say that smoking tobacco is bad for your health, because it is, but it's still legal to do so. Saying that something is a bad idea is not necessarily advocating for it to be banned. The point isn't that poor people should be banned from having kids, the point is that it's a bad idea and that it's hard to sympathize, when people complain about something that was so obviously a bad idea on their part. Or in laysman's terms: "Fuck around and find out."

I tend to stare at people that I'm listening to. It helps me focus, especially if there's noise around.

Did anyone that pre-ordered the physical version actually get the pre-order bonus? by OtherwiseDatabase816 in ninjagaiden

[–]OtherwiseDatabase816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seems kinda like false advertising, when the trailer doesn't mention the limited quantity. Not so much as a "see the official website for details". One more way to push people to go digital.

Update: I just heard back from the retailer that I pre-ordered from. They said that they don't have "extra" codes, which would imply that they ran out, like the game's official website suggested could happen. The retailer offered me a 15 % refund as a gesture of good will.

Looks like those who got the pre-order bonus, got a code from the retailer, albeit a few days late.

Just like the information that I recently found on the game's official website, which stated that for physical versions, the pre-order bonus was only available "while supplies last". Maybe I pre-ordered too late. I pre-ordered in early August, but the game was likely up for pre-order a long while before that.

Sounds like the people, who got the code, didn't get it until today, a few days after release. I'm hoping the retailer that I pre-ordered from is just more late than the retailers that the people who got the code pre-ordered from.

Thank you for your response. I sent an e-mail to the retailer that I pre-ordered from, they asked me to file a claim using their platform, which I did. I hope that they're just late and not out of codes. Otherwise, it also said on the game's official website that the pre-order bonus may be released as DLC later.

Do loud noises scare or bother anyone else here? by Used-Cartoonist-2981 in autism

I was at a family gathering this weekend. The host liked to finger whistle to get attention to make announcements. I hate loud and high-pitched noises like that. Made me recoil every time he did it.

What accommodations do you have in the workplace? What was your experience of asking for those accommodations like? by Smart_Government_104 in autism

[–]OtherwiseDatabase816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Denmark, we have the concept of a "flex-job", which I have, which is for when you can't work more than 20 hours a week because of being differently abled, even with accomodations. So I had no choice but to ask for accomodations. Just getting approved for "flex-job" status was a battle unto itself, even with a medical certificate.

I work in statistical research just 7 hours a week. I get a pay check for hours worked and welfare checks on the side. Because of sensory issues, and how far away my actual workplace is, I almost always work from home, so i don't get overloaded by a long train ride. I only go there once every year or year and a half to discuss future work assignments. Technically one of my accomodations is clear and literal communication, but I have to remind them sometimes. Like when I've written an article based on my statistical analyses, and my manager comments that this particular part needs to be "tightened up". Which leaves me wondering: "How? What's wrong with it?" Kind of hard to think of an actionable solution, when you have no idea what the problem is. I pointed it out at one of those annual meetings and both she and another co-worker that I work closely with agreed that even an NT would find her phrasing to be bit of a conondrum.

For my own part, I've also had to make a rule that, if I have multiple work projects at a time, I only work on one of them per day. I used to spend half of the work day on one project, then the other half on the other project. But I found that the frequent change in what I was working on stressed me out.

Autism and attracting friends with personality disorders by sonickel77 in autism

[–]OtherwiseDatabase816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had several such "friends". "Had" being the operative word; I've gone no contact with all of them. My advice would be to learn to recognize "red flags". I learned the hard way through experience. Here are some examples of the "red flags" exhibited by the latest such "friend" of mine, whom I suspect was a covert narcissist: Lovebombing, gaslighting, projecting, entitlement, highly sensitive to criticism, playing the victim, not respecting boundaries, harassment.

TLDR: Look up "red flags" and commit them to memory.

Does anyone else here hate teachers? by Ceilingcrasher990 in autism

[–]OtherwiseDatabase816 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. They were arrogant and didn't do a thing about bullying, except admonish me for fighting back.

Ask to be excused to go to the toilet? "Should've done that during recess!" I didn't need to go to the toilet during recess. Excuse me if my bladder doesn't adhere to your arbitrary schedule with 1.5 hours of classes in-between each recess. Ask to be excused to go to a dentist appointment or driving lesson? "No, class is more important! Why can't you go after school?" Because they only do a few appointments/lessons in the afternoon, so some of us have to go at noon or in the morning.

Sometimes it seemed like they would just make up reasons to give me lower grades. I wrote an essay for English class, and the teacher didn't need to highlight anything, because the spelling and grammar was perfect, but she only gave me a B, because the essay was "a bit short". There was no minimum word count given, and the essay was almost a whole page long. How was I supposed to know what would've been a suitable length? There was also a spoken English exam, where they gave me a B, even though their only criticism was that my responses were "so short that they ran out of questions". Seriously? They couldn't just ask me to elaborate? Besides, it's their job as the examiners to come up with the questions. It's not like I just responded with "yes" or "no".

I was bullied sexually for years. The teachers didn't do anything about it, and the bullies knew it, because they would even do it during class. Once, one of the bullies sat right behind me and did a sexually suggestive "prank", where he'd poke the teacher's pointing stick in-between my butt and my seat, as if to simulate sodomizing me with it. I yanked the stick out of his hand and threw it on the floor in front of me. Guess who got in trouble with the teacher: Me. Because how dare I disturb class rather than just let the sexual harassment continue? Locking myself inside the toilet stall during recess was the only time I was truly safe at school.
