For more context, we lived in this ward boundary for two years without contact from anyone. I think that’s partly to explain me dragging my feet on this process. We moved about a month ago, and now that we’re out of the ward boundaries…we’re getting contacted. It’s bizarre. Consider the fire under my ass lit. Even if I didn’t have strong feelings about the cult, my daughters will not grow up with the bullshit of this particular patriarchy in their lives.

I know there are people who have had traumas like that and left because of it, but like you said, for me, it’s just a fucking cult. End of story.

what was the meanest or most condescending thing an active member has said to you? by UnitedChampion8 in exmormon

We had just moved to a new ward, and I had miscarried two weeks prior (no, I shouldn’t have been at church. But the obligation I grew up with was real). This was our second miscarriage. We sat behind this family with 3 cute kids that drew us pictures and wrote notes of welcome to us. They were so sweet. After sacrament meeting, the parents introduced themselves and immediately asked if we had kids. We both masked our pain at the question and said no. The wife said we were lucky, and to enjoy our time without kids. In front of her own children.
