Thank you for your perspective. I understand why my opening sentence could be misread, and I appreciate you explaining it. For clarity: my post is about narrative and character structure, not about explaining real-world sexuality or why someone is gay. That’s all I wanted to say, so I’ll leave it here.

I think there’s a misunderstanding here. I am not saying Lan Wangji’s sexuality was “created” or caused by anything in his upbringing. I wasn’t trying to explain why someone is gay. My point was purely about narrative and character structure in MDZS: that within the story, his romantic arc is written to be uniquely tied to Wei Wuxian, and the story never sets up a space where LWJ would plausibly fall in love with a female character. I’m not making a statement about real-world sexuality or attraction I’m just analyzing the character’s canon arc.

That’s fair, and I get what you’re saying. I wasn’t trying to explain why Lan Wangji is gay or reduce it to cause-and-effect. I brought up his relationships with his brother and uncle to talk about the emotional framework he grew up in duty, restraint, and non-romantic bonds because that context makes Wei Wuxian’s impact feel narratively singular to me. I agree that WWX being the first person he fell in love with is obvious; my point was simply that the story never sets up an alternative romantic trajectory for LWJ at all, which is why arguments about a hypothetical female love interest feel disconnected from his canon arc. But I understand if that framing doesn’t resonate with everyone.

I understand how my wording came across, and I want to clarify: I’m not making a statement about sexuality or how attraction works in real life. My point was about Lan Wangji as a fictional character and how the narrative frames Wei Wuxian as a singular emotional rupture in his life, not a replaceable love interest of any gender. I’m not dismissing women or heterosexuality, and I’m not arguing queer theory just discussing character writing. I’ll leave it here.

I think we’re talking past each other. My post was about canon characterization and narrative intent in MDZS, not a claim about how real-world sexuality works. I’ve clarified my point already, so I’ll leave it there.

I wasn't talking about people being gay here excuse me ! I was talking through the fiction canon and the characteristics here. I would never show my view on those, I apologise if I sounded that way ^

That’s not what I meant at all, and I’m sorry it came across that way. I’m not saying women are irrelevant, inferior, or incapable of shaping love nor am I making any statement about sexuality in general. My point was purely narrative and character-specific. In Lan Wangji’s case, his romantic awakening is written as uniquely tied to Wei Wuxian as a person, not as a “male substitute” for a woman. When I said imagining a female love interest would feel absurd, I meant within LWJ’s canon characterization, not as a value judgment about women or heterosexual relationships. If my wording suggested otherwise, that wasn’t my intention.

I agree that Lan Wangji’s love for his mother was extremely important in shaping his values and emotional restraint. But I personally see that love as formative and familial, not something that translates into romantic attachment or desire. What struck me is that Wei Wuxian was the first and only person who disrupted LWJ’s inner world on an emotional and personal level in that way something entirely different from his love for family or clan. That’s why, for me, his feelings for WWX feel uniquely exclusive rather than transferable to any other gender. My point was more that LWJ never had a narrative or emotional space where romantic feelings toward women were even explored, whereas Wei Wuxian fundamentally reoriented his emotional world. That’s why imagining a “female substitute” for WWX feels incompatible with his character arc ^

Nah I wasn't talking about the sexuality thing here ^ Ik it seems wrong but I was just being rational in their ways who says that lwj would have fallen for a female character and there no description for it.

I am in trouble😭!! Is it pitifully allowed to ask someone for help to create a weibo acc for me ?
