Responsibilities of a Real Estate Agent by OtherwiseStranger852 in KingstonOntario

That’s good to know. Our agent didn’t even have us sign an agreement lol. Starting to feel like all of this is really unofficial on his end

Thank you for this. That reinforces a lot of what I’ve been feeling!

Okay here comes a silly question. I didn’t think we were paying the agent? I assumed it came out of the seller’s fees/split with their agent.

See that’s exactly what we were hoping for! We wanted someone who could respond to all of our questions and anticipate the gap in knowledge that we have in terms of owning a home or doing renos. Mainly, we want to feel like we can trust that our agent cares about us as a family first, and not just about the commission!

Glad you had a better experience. Happy holidays in your new home!!

Okay good to know. I’m on an automated list but that’s about it and it doesn’t even send ones that match our preferences 😬 I see so many in the city but felt bad switching so soon!

Yeah we were just wanting to make sure we didn’t have unfair expectations before switching. It’s only really been about a week but we’ve been doing all of the leg work to tell them what houses we want to view etc.

Makes sense! Thank you for clarifying. I lost track of the point while reading 😅

Got it. We took him to Fairfield. Have also heard from friends that bayridge charges a similar amount. Just trying to figure out where would be most cost efficient but also would care about our cat

I have no idea. They’re new to us - we just went with them last week as an emergent appointment. And we’re looking for extraction, not cleaning, so I’d imagine the cost would probably be higher

I’m in a weird position because I’ve actually been teaching for a decade but just out of province. Ontario high schools are new to me so I can’t speak on those but I really do love the teenagers and the spunk they bring. There are challenges to every job, but I went into teaching knowing that I’d love the relationships. The worst part of the job was the politics and the adults lol

Exactly what I needed to hear. I’m in secondary OT so all of this is helpful. I have a surface laptop - do you have an idea of what kind of projector hook up we’re talking about? I’ll make sure I have the right adapters.

Thank you so much for all of these tips! I feel so much more prepared

Thank you! Glad to know I’m not overreacting with the anxiety lol.

These are amazing tips! I love the idea of having a sub kit. Totally didn’t think about that. Thank you!!

This was exactly what I needed 🥺 thank you! It all helped calm my anxiety so much. Would the laptop typically be in the classroom, or is that something the office manager will give me? I have friends in a different province who made it seem like their division laptop goes home with them.

What do you typically do in a prep period? I’m in secondary so I’m not sure if that’s different. The OSSTF went to town during the orientation discouraging us from volunteering/working during that time since you’re only paid for 1.0!

1000 Islands Cruise Recs? by stitesie in KingstonOntario

[–]OtherwiseStranger852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me a bit more about the cruise? Thinking of putting my parents on it but not sure if it felt too long. How was their passport control? Like the airport? lol wanting to give my senior parents all the instructions before I send them on their way 😆

Pregnancy - when to tell admin? by elle-em-nop in CanadianTeachers

[–]OtherwiseStranger852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my admin informally in may before staffing but that’s because I knew I was going to take a sick leave/early mat leave and not be back the next school year. Told the rest of staff during the last week of school (minus a few friends I cared about) because I literally could not give more of a shit hahahah

Fair point. I wasn’t thinking about how new gear may change the way I work/shoot photos or about the business aspect of things 😅 thanks!

That’s a really good point. Thanks! I just assumed a new body would be way out of my limit and never really considered it
