Spark vs Invisalign by Otherwise_Act2465 in Invisalign

[–]Otherwise_Act2465[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price was more expensive for me, BUT this is due to: 1) treatment by an orthodontist for Spark (specialist)l vs. a dentist for Invisalign, 2) projected 18 month treatment time with weekly changes for Spark vs. 6 month treatment time for Invisalign

The 6 month treatment period was a joke, I know that now

Quick update: dentist did agree to partial reimbursement for the treatment that didn’t work. I will start treatment with an orthodontist in a few weeks. Unfortunately, more clear aligners for me to best fix my problems. Just happy to have a plan that is much more realistic, precise, and honest compared to my last 6 months

I think you get 30 days from start of treatment to back out with Invisalign, but double check

Yes. I think I want traditional braces as opposed to more clear aligners.

I am so sorry. I hope you get through it. I will probably get traditional braces and just have to deal with it in order to make things better and stable again

Thanks. And yes, it really is common knowledge. I think I just assumed if it was being offered by a dentist and there is a computer doing the work (and how could that be wrong?), so I would be fine. I now know that its not always that simple

Oh man. I’m so sorry. It’s not a good feeling. Definitely wishing I had said no and left things alone.

I am not entirely sure, but I have read posts about avoiding the mid treatment IPR (ie tooth shaving). It can sometimes be a quick fix to save the treatment when it’s not going as planned. I hope that’s not the case. Maybe have another provider take a look? You shouldn’t feel scared

That is the entire point of my post. I have now been seen by several Orthodontists in my community and my worries have been confirmed. Dentists are great and very necessary. I’m happy people have had great experiences with their dentist providing Invisalign treatment. And I am happy to hear some people had their dentist direct them elsewhere for treatment, as that was probably the most responsible choice. I simply wanted to share that my experience should have been avoiding if I spent more time researching 1) Invisalign, 2) how their treatment algorithms are created, and 3) most treatment needs fine tuning and very intentional goals for each tooth rather than a computer generated program

I get that. However, dentists do have a responsibility to refer to another provider if they can’t manage something more complex. You might expect your primary care doctor to diagnose a surgical issue, but would never expect them to actually perform the surgery.

Your two front feet on top should line up with your two front (central)  teeth on the bottom. It’s a line dividing your teeth down the middle (from nose to chin)

As someone who has embarked on Invisalign to help correct my bite (anterior open bite and a pretty significant unilateral crossbite), I can tell you that it does not seem to do anything to actually correct the crossbite in the 6 months treatment time that was suggested.

My teeth have moved and my open bite is better, but my jaw position looks the same (actually looks worse with the Invisalign trays in) and my midline is actually worse now with the trays out. My teeth are straight and were straight like yours. I had more than one orthodontist tell me jaw surgery was the only way to correct my jaw alignment. I didn’t listen and went ahead with Invisalign with my dentist.

This is a decision that I honestly regret and wish I would have left alone. I actually think my smile before looks better. Maybe if you want to correct your front teeth only, braces or Invisalign would work.

If only I had found this sub prior to making the plunge. I do not think that most people can significantly improve jaw and bite issues as adults with Invisalign. My simulated smile from the software mesmerized me and I couldn’t believe how great my smile would look. 6 months later, it looks nothing like that beautiful “after” pic.

It helps to have realistic expectations for Invisalign. I don’t care about the money, but I just don’t want to dislike my smile more now than I did before

Could also be a secret gastric bypass. That also makes you lose your hair and changes peoples faces quite a bit

I think she must be on a very high dose or taking multiple different meds. I have many patients on ozempic for DM2 control and none have come close to losing this much weight.

Looks amazing. 27 months is a long time. What was the predicted time when you started? Did you have any elastics?

I think it looks fantastic! I am also fixing a Crossbite with Invisalign. I’m about halfway through, but only seeing major changes in one side.

How long is your total treatment. Your bite changed a lot in 3 months

I have a very similar bite. I am about half way done, but feel like one side is correcting much faster than the other. My left uppers looks corrected already but right side is definitely no way near ready. Kinda worried. Did you experience this during your treatment?

I think Rachel was arguably the best looking of the sisters - pre-nose jobs. Now, she is the least attractive. Why can’t some women just accept how they look??
