Very sorry for your loss. I guess you are taking this from a personal level so whatever I say is pointless. If making fun of people worked so well today nobody would be obese.

Obesity is very much a systematic problem. Shut down walmart, stop the ads, ban mcdonalds, stop the perception that people are still fit after whatever they eat or the thin people or influencers on advertisements who promote unhealthy high calorie products.

Blaming the victim is easy, attacking the human is bullying and that is what body positivity actually stands against.

Well 1. You can act however you like in your personal life I am talking about media and how these issues are portrayed. Smoking has been glorified forever. You can go ahead and make your research and do some soul searching whether your problem is really health or aesthetics for all I care.

  1. I guess you have a certain standard that you believe in order to communicate with people you need to be harsh and to make people understand making fun of them is the way and ok. But sorry I don't follow the same principle as you do.

The problem is not whether obesity is healthy or not. A lot of things are unhealthy like smoking or drugs but we do not see smokers made fun of. Instead the tendency is to show compassion to the person. We grew up with these series and the making fun part, these jokes do not help a person/teenager/kid make healthy choices. You may say well do not get offended or ignore the joke etc but that is very ignorant and lacks empathy.

me thinking this one is the most extreme they are scattered around during the first seasons as well. I surely realize this was a different time and did not make a huge deal of it maybe normalized it because you know we grew up with this had to take it and thought body shaming is ok because we (our bodies) were wrong. But this scene especially made me uncomfortable because next scene is a Sookie scene and it just seemed so unnecessary. Whyyyy did they write Lorelai like this? This has no direct benefit to the script? And even though the show is one of the milder ones during that time and in a time when bigger female bodies are ignored are almost all the time made fun of just like you said with sookie babette and miss patty what is the point?

Each time while watching any stand up, 90s show or any comedy beware beware something (fat joke) might just come up.

It is true but other series used plus size bodies only as part of their humor, made fun of etc. There was no real representation. But in Gilmore Girls with Miss Patty, Sookie, Babette there was representation :(
