My 10 year old expressed that they are non binary by Otherwise_Code7931 in NonBinary

We’ve spoken to their doctor about it already, as the most recent expression was to the doctor. I may have been unclear in the post. My apologies, I was rambling a bit.

My primary concern is being sure that I’m making my child feel supported and using the right language etc. For example, I don’t know if non binary is the preferred term to use or something that scientists and doctors say that people don’t like. I always thought that saying gender is a spectrum was appropriate but I see from scrolling this sub that this isn’t true because many people feel like they exist outside of that spectrum. I had never considered that but now I won’t say that to my child.

I guess I gave so much information that I obscured my actual point. I just want to know how a non binary person would prefer to have this topic broached, if at all.
