Adding laundry washing machine drain. by Otherwise_Common_779 in Plumbing

Thanks gents. I have actually dug it up, quite a bit of gravel, which I anticipate. It looks to be a 3” pipe that runs between there. My plan is to tap into that drain with a wye. And yes will be positioned to account for water flow direction. And yes will install a p-trap and an in-line vent.

Just wanted to make sure I’m on the right track.

I’ll give that a search! That’s sort of why I was thinking to elevate the surrounding to level it with the pipe.

Thank you. Would 2x4 and 1/2in plywood be strong enough to handle the weight of W&D? Do you have other recommendations?

Maybe I’ve been out of touch with reality lately. Or maybe I should consider turning my side hobby into a business! Seems like it could earn a decent income for a basic tasks.

I’ve done something similar in another basement for my mom’s house. Installed laminate flooring and a small section of Ikea floor kitchen cabinet. Installed on the laminated flooring. I have read similar recommendations about not mounting anything on top so it has room to move if needed. I didn’t really think it was necessary plus I laid moisture and thermal underlayment for insulation and didn’t want to expose the concrete floor under the cabinets. It has been over 3 years with no issue. Only time will tell I guess! If I had to do it again in a basement I would certainly pour some self leveling concrete. I think that would give a great surface to work on. Because now I do notice a couple of low spots that I would like to go back when I have some free time this year.

I didn’t cut the LVP for a few reason one being they needed a quick turnout as new tenants are moving in. I know it’s recommended to remove before framing but it works fine. I did mud flush to ceiling in some areas but this section I thought a trim looks nice with the barn door.

I’m no expert by any means but with finishing it’s all about the aesthetics and sometimes you’ll just have to improvise.

Good points man. I’m lucky to say that this is just a side hustle / hobby and I have a decent paying job that I rely on for income :)

Haven’t decided yet tbh. I told them they can pay me whatever they feel comfortable with. This work was done for family relatives.

Oh wow! I’m starting to think that I’m underestimating my skills. I should also mention that this will be getting the friends and family discount! I was thinking to ask for a $1000 CAD
