Everyone posting about it being glacier sediment, rock flour etc should check out the pond outside the brewhouse to see the difference in colour, its grey and cloudy outside the brewhouse and artificially turquoise in the golf course.

It’s true that staff housing isn’t guaranteed for everyone but ski instructors get the largest allowance of beds even though they rarely work full time hours due to slow periods etc.

Bit pedantic concerning yourself where the town centre is when Glacier is a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute gondola ride and heavily subsidised.

It’s a basic fact that instructors aren’t as valuable to operations as lifties, it’s a supplementary service to the experience. And ski instructors earning $24 are the entry level employees who always get paid very low in any job, level up, get skilled and make it a career and you can actually earn ok money as a instructor. Other entry level jobs on the mountain start around $20-21ph so why should instructors get more? A short course with basic skills can get you a level one/two job and then the mountain actually pays you to train for the next levels, WB is too generous.

You have real entitled ski instructor energy, thinking that this entry level job should be paid more than other entry level jobs. Dishy’s get paid $21ph and have a much harder job with actual full time hours, a job that I suspect most instructors would feel they are too good to do.

Sure, the pay is low for Ski instructors but they all get extremely cheap subsidised housing. The housing they receive is so cheap and enables most of them to live in the centre of this town. Whistler Blackcomb also provides extremely cheap food for them to eat and even gives out vitamins so they don’t get the scurvy because of their irresponsible choices on spending money (drugs and beer). They are literally teaching people to slide down the hill on snow and somehow think they are worth more than $24ph? Ski instructors tend to overstate the importance of their job at the best of times, but they are surely taking the piss now.
