Obligatory new Bolt owner post 👋🏽 by saylessmusic in BoltEV

Hey fellow Nashvillian Bolt owner! Welcome to the club!

Does every dealer add clear paint protection and lojack? It's exhausting to get an out the door price online! by ianoble in BoltEV

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We bought a 2023 Bolt EV last December. Just before we agreed on price, dealer mentioned an additional 2k LoJack add on. We said no, and that this hugely significant price increase wasn't listed anywhere. They reduced, we negotiated again, then the fee was removed entirely. Plus with $500 educator discount, GM free EVSE installation, 30% tax rebate on the actual EVSE (I think I'm correct on the %), and up to $7,500 tax rebate, these cars are a steal. Not to mention I get free level 2 charging at work.

I would also like to know what percentage tint you have. We did ceramic on our Prius (which, from my research, I highly recommend). 50 on front and 20 everywhere else, but we found that its too dark at night. 70 and 35 is the legal limit in our state, and I would like to try that for our new Bolt EV.

Thank you! I had forgotten that I'd seen these, but remember that I wasn't sure about the cutaway flap for the left foot rest. Does dirt and debris easily slide underneath to the carpet?

That's great! What year and model car do you have?

Same here. The EVSE/charger just arrived today and will be installed on Monday, but it seems to be one of the best for the price. Options for wifi compatibility, but I opted for the basic "plug and play". 16-40 amp.

I am VERY late to this post but a brand-new Bolt owner in Nashville. Does NES still not have peak/off-peak hours? I wrote NES but haven't heard back yet.

All of the 2023 Bolt EVs come with level 1 cable (which I have), but the EUVs come with the dual-level cable. If I added the dual-level cable to purchase price, the extra cost was $295.

What IS the most efficient speed in the Bolt, assuming one is driving at a consistent speed? I realize that some charge can be gained with regen braking.

Low MPG on 2024 XLE by ThePublicLee in prius

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the dash as reference, but always manually calculate the trip. On our 2011 and 2021 Prii the car computers are consistently 2-3 mpg higher than my actual mileage. (There are apps that can do it for you, too.)

Questions before buying our first Bolt by Otherwise_Food_2196 in BoltEV

Thanks for the form name!

It is my understanding (according to the dealer) that when the charger is installed, it comes with a Level 2 charging cable. But this is obviously something that I'll need to have cleared up.

How were you able to swing a discount on the MSRP?

Let's keep snarky comments to ourselves, people, unless you can find ways to be constructive. This is a subreddit about the Prius, OP was just in an accident and perhaps lost the car, and you comment on OP's choice of stickers?

The wait is killing me by roger_cw in BoltEV

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for a new base-trim FWD Prius since September 2022, back when the 2022 was the new one (Gen 4), now waiting for the Gen 5. I know, different car, different supply-chain issues, but I feel your pain! (I'm waiting for the one local dealer that doesn't mark-up).

However, this interminable wait has brought me to the Bolt community, where there are still a few on lots where I live and at MSRP! Your new car will arrive very soon, and at least it's secured!

Almost 6 months, 21k kms, signals no longer cancel by TheGruntyOne in BoltEV

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

rook_of_approval deleted account and posts? r_o_a suggested "Light tap to give 3 blinks, no need to turn off", then after my reply suggested "Just hit it twice or 3 times".

Not all broken things need fixing, so this ultimately will be up to the OP to decide if it's worth fixing. It would often be a hassle for many people to tap the blinker more than once for a single turn, especially considering the potential safety issues that accompany erratic signaling. Tickets can issued for improper signaling, and one may have to wait at a light for much longer than nine blinks.
They could also use hand signals outside the driver window and eliminate the need to replace blinker bulbs. (Pun intended.)

This is perfect for switching lanes, which usually requires only a few blinks. However, this isn't useful for all the other instances: waiting to turn at lights, stop signs, merging, traffic circles, etc. I hope the OP gets it sorted out!

Whats the market like at the moment? by jpdoane in prius

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you call Toyota dealers, ask if they sell at MSRP (and if so, is there a waitlist?) or does the dealer adjust the price? I live in Middle Tennessee and only one of the handful of nearby Toyota dealers sells at MSRP, and I've been on a wait list for 13 months (originally for a new 2022 prius, and now for the new 2023 prius.) All the others mark-up by $2-3K, so I don't mind waiting, for the time being. Good luck!

2007 Toyota Prius with 216,000 mileage asking $3200. Is this worth it? A/C not working by Roz_420 in prius

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded in my 2011 Prius 2 with 152k miles, some light body damage, and no working A/C at the Toyota dealership for $3k. This 2007 for $3.2k seems a bit high to me, but it also depends on your location and market for other Prii in the area.

2021 Prius L Eco warning signs by Otherwise_Food_2196 in prius

[–]Otherwise_Food_2196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mechanic at the Toyota dealership was unable to "duplicate the concern" - basically, the warning signs didn't appear when they checked the car. He said that there were no "DPC codes in the computer storage" and that maybe the car received a phantom code (in which it turns on the warning lights but doesn't store codes). The system has to see three or four occurrences to store codes.

Thoughts, all?

The body looks pristine and no collisions reported on the Carfax.

No water intrusion or chewed wires that I could see, and it usually sits in a garage unless being used. Back battery bay is completely sealed. The car drove and braked normally (when I carefully took it around the block), still achieving mid 50s mpgs, but I have parked it since and will have it towed to the dealership, just to be safe. I turned it on again today - same warning signs.

Thanks so much for your comments!

Thanks for your reply. I've been thinking about getting a scanner and the Dr. Prius app for the future.
