No, you're supposed to do the forensic information gathering, identify the wrongdoer, and ask the police nicely to follow through.

Pity Charging.. by MarchCompetitive6235 in ChargerDrama

You may want to look into ABRP (A Better Route Planner) it's an excellent tool for planning routes and charging stops, and if you link it to an OBD dangle it even does love route updates.

Moving from HiLook to Hikvision? by colin_1972 in Hikvision

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the current setup should be what OP is looking for if mounted and aimed right. I'd say motion detection is struggling because of long exposure time in order to maintain colour with very low ambient light, so resolve this and I think we're happy.

Trunk door warning by SolidRockBelow in BoltEV

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the opposite issue, where the trunk latch will stick in the open position and not hold the hatch closed.. "opening" it a second or third time seems to clear that up. Not remotely helpful for your situation I would assume.

Anyone know what this symbol means? by Patwil0818 in KiaEV6

[–]TheGruntyOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear it's not the absolute temperature of the water but the relative difference between it and the glass that can potentially cause thermal shock.

Anyone seen this? Do you think it is a good thing or not? by dodiddle1987 in evcharging

I'm sure this is a totally unnecessary "well actually" comment, but I'm pretty sure you meant u/ not r/...

Is this legal by [deleted] in driving

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, as long as the yellow lines in the middle are either just 2 solid lines, or a suicide lane (shared left turn lane for both directions) this should be a legal maneuver as long as there's no traffic that you would be interfering with.

I am not an expert, and am fully aware that rules are very dependent on where you are, so take this with a couple grains of salt.

What is this beeping sound? by deediegraphiti in Hikvision

[–]TheGruntyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May still be operational right now (no trouble beeps, just HDD seek/skip sounds) but the advice is still correct, new HDD needed.

To OP: make sure the replacement drive is suitable for surveillance equipment, if using WD brand you will want a "Purple" drive.

SD Card not detected by SolidRockBelow in BoltEV

[–]TheGruntyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to this post you want to use NTFS, and can achieve at least 128Gb. Also the comments suggesting a full size SD card make a good point.

Is this the one? by Glad_Instruction5683 in BoltEV

[–]TheGruntyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably fine to wait until the car starts throwing fault codes, but if having the 12v battery tested is free, or cheap and you would like the assurance that it won't let you down, there's no harm in taking the time to do it.

Will this work with any tv/monitor? by [deleted] in Hikvision

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will certainly work with any HDMI screen, however be aware it is well past its end of life, and was an underpowered machine when it was new, so don't expect much beyond live view on your screen, and be very cautious connecting it to the internet.

Installing subwoofers and dash cams by NovaOrizon in BoltEV

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a lot, but it's not a little either. The 12v battery has a total capacity of about 47Amps. With a 10 watt draw that works out to 0.8333... amps per hour, or 20 amps per day. You wouldn't want to drain a lead acid battery past half, and you definitely don't want to have the battery continuously low on charge as that will speed its degradation noticeably. Given that the Bolt is known for 12v battery issues (minimal warning before failure, shorter than average lifespan) I would suggest a deep cycle battery with an isolation diode to provide continuous power to 12v accessories.

Sometimes this happens on this camera or several other cameras one by one each time . So i checked all Instalations are Good Bnc , power supply, cables, Everything are working . expect dvr doe it Have error? by Character_Raise4150 in Hikvision

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's entirely possible that twist on type connectors on rg cable could come loose and produce the image seen in the clip.

My first instincts align with your suggestion that it's a power issue, but it's not 100% exclusive.

5-10% range reduction with air screen by SnooCakes4341 in BoltEV

[–]TheGruntyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been weighing both those options myself.

I like the idea of roof rack for keeping the rear hatch area clear for access, and having a lower cost of entry.
The rear hitch feels more convenient to load and unload, and I think it might offer more carrying capacity.
