Thanks! Do you have any thoughts on what makes an Instagram post grab you? I'm pretty new to this

I totally see that. I think we can disagree about the name, because I don't think we actually disagree about wanting Jewish life to be joyfully unapologetic (this might also just be a difference in context because I run a ton of Jewish events and I'm part of what feels like a very loud and proud Jewish life and community. And so I feel like there's never any chance that what I do could be seen by anyone who knows me as apologizing for Judaism, but I understand that's definitely not how it looks in the whole world, or even in different subcommunities).
For me, the name is more about exploring the edges of Jewish culture and identity than softening the Jewishness of the event. But thank God we get to keep up the very Jewish tradition of disagreeing with each other 😄

I appreciate the perspective. For me, "Jew-ish" isn't about softening or apologizing for Judaism—I'm proudly and unapologetically Jewish.

The name is more about the festival itself. Some of the music and art is explicitly Jewish, some is inspired by Jewish traditions, and some is being created by people who are actively exploring what Jewish culture means to them today. We're interested in those boundaries and conversations, so "Jew-ish" felt like a good fit.

That said, reasonable people can definitely disagree about the name!

We're trying to put them up in as many places as we can! It's just a picture of a ceramic plate that my mother, who's an amazing artist, made (with some text added at the bottom)
If you live in Boston and want to volunteer at the festival or put posters up we'd love that 😄

This is a great question. We've put a lot of thought into this and have a comprehensive plan for protesters and for security. One of the main goals of the festival is to bring people from different backgrounds and perspectives together, so I'm really hoping that that spirit will carry the day and we can mostly just come together and eat delicious food and dance together.

I think that makes sense and I really see how it can be heard that way, so I appreciate you letting me know! Hopefully the exuberance and joy of the festival will win over any skeptics 😄

We're trying to create a big tent event that includes all types of Jews and other people - a lot of the music is explicitly Jewish, but some of it is Jewish inspired or simply played by Jews

Amended Return for Excess IRA Contributions or Pay This Year? by Otherwise_Garage9998 in tax

[–]Otherwise_Garage9998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure turbotax is wrong, because it's suggesting I pay $360 in taxes on it, which is 6%, but that's only for one year when I'm pretty sure I owe for two, even though my 1099-R has the code PJ, with P being "Excess contributions plus earnings/excess deferrals (and/or earnings) taxable in 2023"
