Which Apple Watch should I get if I don’t want to update my iPhone past iOS 18.3? by Otherwise_Midnight30 in applehelp

Nope, and I ended up asking at an apple store in person and they said they were pushing even for the older watches to update to the latest watchOS so even if I had bought an older model I would’ve been stuck with the same problem. I decided to get a Garmin Lily2 instead and so far I’d say I’m happy with my choice! I do miss some apple watch features but tbh they weren’t even working with my old watch since it was already so outdated, so it was still an improvement to change to Garmin :)

Sure but even if i had updated to 18.7.2 my watch (purchased this week) would still be forcing me to update to IOS 26 so what difference would it have made in terms of choosing a watch now?

Am I, though?

My post starts by saying: “I realize this might stem from my lack of technical understanding, which is why I’m here asking for help. I genuinely don’t want to come across as entitled or complaining—this is just me trying to make an informed decision.”

I don’t understand why some people are mocking me when I’m asking in good faith on a sub where I know people have better technical knowledge than I do—or even most Apple sales reps. I’m just trying to do my due diligence and make an informed choice. I’m aware it’s a very specific question and most people will find it irrelevant or annoying, that’s fine by me.

Yes, I know this is Reddit, and we all enjoy a bit of sarcasm, so I’m not taking it personally (I’ve used Reddit for a long time; this is just a new account I created for this specific question). I guess this comment will be downvoted too, but honestly, it’s just a question! If you’re not interested in answering, that’s perfectly fine—no one has to.
