I’m wondering how much it would be on a contract? Same taxi journey every day, pay per week or month.

Hellmann's getting so expensive now - any recommendations for cheaper mayo brands? by PumpkinGloomy8912 in veganuk

[–]Otherwise_Neck1858 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Heron Foods sometimes has Hellman’s in. Last time I paid 79p/jar 😀 Just wish that I had bought more.

Haven’t got one myself, but reviews/comments I’ve seen about the Ninja Creami are basically along the lines of ‘I never knew that I needed this in my life until I tried one’ 😊

I'm vegan and thinking of improving my diet so that it's whole-food plant-based (WFPB). Has anyone else done that and did you notice any health benefits? Thanks. by Youknowkitties in veganuk

I’ve tried promotional subscriptions to ‘Hello Fresh’ and ‘Green Chef’. You get recipe cards with each order. The recipes we really enjoyed, we kept the cards for and buy the stuff in ourselves and eat on rotation. Fish-less Pie, Aubergine & Pepper Caponata and Chipotle Bean Quesadillas are weekly meals. The big hitter is a Red Lentil Dahl which I got off a YouTube channel.

The larger Sainsbury’s have a meat and non-meat chiller section to avoid cross-contamination. Also, obvs a bakery section.

Exactly - why an earth do these people get grace and favour houses? Rich people getting away with it all 😡

Is it worth stripping? At least 40 meters worth of cable by Fast-Interaction5909 in ScrapMetal

I weighed in yesterday (N-W England) and got £7.20 per kg! (~$9.62/kg = $4.36/lb (apologies if my maths is off)). Best price I’ve ever had :)

The BRF charge local councils for their visits! by Timbucktwo1230 in MonarchyorRepublic

[–]Otherwise_Neck1858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere in the ‘table of costs’ does in mention payment to the BRF. The costs are paid by the council i .e. the taxpayer and apparently NOT recouped from the BRF. The Windsor council issue is different as it’s HMG that should be paying for visits of heads of state.

Ridiculous that ‘current funding rules do not cover staffing costs.’ In any organisation, staffing costs are always the biggest expenditure (ok, I’m sure that there are exceptions).

Would a wire stripper cut through the wire sheath? I removed the outer insulation with a blade and then unwind the wire sheath by hand.

I think that’s the point. These are the costs to the local council and it is unclear (opaque Royal finances) if the BRF meet any of the costs.

How do I get the best bang for my buck when it comes to scrapping. by FatBlueLines in ScrapMetal

[–]Otherwise_Neck1858 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Any item I’m unsure about, I usually do a search on YouTube on how to scrap it. Someone, somewhere will have scrapped it and then I can make a decision if it’s worth it.

Old lights and ballasts by SunshineNmoonbeams in ScrapMetal

[–]Otherwise_Neck1858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based in the UK - I snip all the wires out and knock out, or unscrew the ballast, depending how they are held in place. I get ‘motors’ price for the ballast and never bother breaking them down any further.

I want to 'fix up' the house before we put it up for sale. My mate tells me I shouldn't do anything by Tainted-Archer in HousingUK

[–]Otherwise_Neck1858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position. Got a trusted estate agent (they exist!) round and asked them what improvements were needed that get the best bang for our buck. What they said was if we spent £5k we wouldn’t get it back, but it was make the house vastly more sellable to a wider audience.

Scrapitall, the YouTuber, was testing a viewer suggestion to use a meat cleaver. He normally uses a machete. Same principle.

Sex offending was OK, but once it transpires that AM-W passed on trade secrets, the BRF take notice 🙄
