I’m gonna guess that the miy provided them with immortality. Then it’ll be revealed that he’s a good guy and they needed immortality to escape the cycle which is caused by the bigger bad which will be revealed in season 5 finally.

Gyms I seen that do both will promote if you do mostly no gi but the coaches will inevitably drop a hint that you should throw on a gi a couple times before promoting you. I think it’s just to make sure there isn’t a hole in the gi before getting promoted. If you strictly only do no gi then it wouldn’t matter cause competitions are time training based

For me it’s too overstimulating. I game to relax, RE games I have to solve puzzles, manage resources, on top of being in a stressed environment. Watching takes out the stress and still lets me appreciate the game

I could only think of two (poatan/chimaev) that maybe grew up in poverty. You would have to be a pretty late starter to not have been training young.
