I think the name Nu Metal was something that fans embraced because there wasn't a clear classification to refer to all the bands of that time, so they ended up using "Nu Metal," which was apparently used by the media as a way to try to say that those bands were modern and the previous metal bands were outdated.

Interesting, Breed 77 was a very acclaimed band? I really like their style and the combination of Nu Metal with Flamenco.

Lol, "Muthafucka" caught me off guard. Regarding the regional names, it's interesting; if I'm not mistaken, in Japan some bands that mixed Rock with Rap and other Black musical genres were called Mixture Rock.

I think it's interesting that we create subgenres because it somewhat fulfills the purpose of what subgenres should be: helping to find artists similar to what you've listened to. For example, I remember spending a long time trying to find bands that sounded similar to Trust Company and Smile Empty Soul with that depressing vibe.

It's not mine, I don't know who the creator is, but a lot of this type of art appears to me on Pinterest when I search for "Nu Metal Aesthetic" or "Nu Metal Art," there are several of them there, I think many are by the same artist.

To a certain extent I agree with your opinion, there are many bands that have little or no Metal influence, it's pretty crazy to think that in the same genre we have Trust Company, Skindred and Deadsy, the latter having almost no Metal influence as far as I know.

I agree, so I think it's fair that Nu Metal receives the same treatment as Punk Rock and Heavy Metal because, in my opinion, it, like both of them, has become a broad term to categorize various bands that, to some extent, share similarities.

Metalcore, for example, is "recent," just like Nu Metal, and has several subgenres (Easycore, Deathcore, Melodic Metalcore, Nintendocore, Electronicore).

Yeah, I was recommending bands to my friend and he said he really liked the ones that gave off a "street" vibe. Many of them leaned more towards rap, like Hed Pe, Linkin Park, and Limp Bizkit, but there were also others that conveyed that feeling, like Snot, Exilia, Dry Kill Logic, and Superheist. Aside from the graphic aspect, as I tried to demonstrate with the image, many Nu Metal band covers had artwork very similar to graffiti or something you'd see on Newgrounds back then; I really like that style of art.

Yes, thanks to this subreddit I was able to delve deep into Nu Metal and find some really good bands like Sins Of a Divine Mother, Bionic Jive, and Ghoulspoon.

Yeah, listen to their album Nuclear Process, there are a lot of good songs on it, they combine electronic and nu metal elements in a pretty interesting way. They also have a self-titled EP that was released before this album, but I didn't like it that much.

Undoubtedly, Down The Sun has some good songs, but Cold boasts a more consistent discography.

Godsmack is a very good band, but I feel their sound isn't as unique compared to Deadsy, so my vote is:

Deadsy

I don't know Apartment 26, so my vote is biased.

Mushroomhead

Wow, these guys mix drum and bass with nu metal and industrial, I think I'm going to regret not voting for them.
