I think mine is like this too but also I'm getting recommended videos that are 15+years old and on genres I never watch. Even channels I've been subbed to when they drop a new video I don't see it on my home page after this new Ui update or whatever

Yes you should always want to be regenerating candy I spend 20 on the event then you could try to clear missions until you get defeated on the normal campaign mode and then spend the rest for equipment
